A truly enchanting evening at the Let Them Eat Cake Ball for the History Community of Muse Meet Ups. ! ✨ We had so much fun playing our part in this regency dream. A huge well done to the @hampshireregencydancers dancers for their lovely performance and for the fantastic regency dance lesson! 💃🕺 You were all incredible.

Our sparkly dresses and the magical glow of our 250 LED candles were the perfect touch to the grand halls of Somerley House. What a night! 💖

Hiring a string quartet for your wedding can add a touch of something special. Here are 5 Tips For Booking A #stringquartet

1. Book Early

In the excitement of booking all of the other elements for your #wedding, from the venue, and caterers, through to the photographer, don’t forget to book your #musicians as early. We’ll get booked up months, often years in advance and it benefits you to book early. Why ? You’ll benefit from this year’s price, , and we’ll be able to put your wedding date in all of our diaries so you have the greatest chance of us being available! This is ESPECIALLY the case for those popular summer wedding weekends (first one after the school summer terms ends is a classic!)

2. Go Direct

This one probably won’t make us popular with all of those agencies out there, but booking directly means you get the best price as there is no mark-up. You’ll also get to liaise directly with us, cutting out the middle man.

3. Request the music YOU want

We can arrange nearly anything for string quartet. If there is something you really love, ask us. Even if we don’t have it on our repertoire list, we’ll be able to arrange it for you. Don’t think that booking #classicalmusicians means formal and inflexible. We are equally as comfortable playing Bach as we are playing Taylor Swift.

4. Longer Bookings Are More Economical

THink about how much of your #weddingday you’d like us there for. Most of our booking tend to be for three hours – this covers #ceremony and drinks reception comfortably. But if you want us to stay for your wedding breakfast too then we are more than happy to, and it becomes more economical to have us there for longer.

5. Don’t Worry About Travel

Some couples worry that booking a string quartet means they won’t be able to change venues. But, this is not the case. We are highly portable! We often play at the ceremony in one venue, and then move to another venue for the #drinksreception taken in Hampshire by @thebossardquartet

What happens to the music when I get to the end of the aisle?

The Bossard Quartet have played at so many weddings, and yet one question that often gets asked is ‘What happens to the music when I get to the end of the aisle?’

We’ve seen all kinds of aisle entrances, fast, slow, emotional, happy, reluctantly shy, confident – but one thing is the same, the music is the one thing you don’t need to worry about!

The moment someone walks down the aisle is a big deal for most. We love sharing in that moment and providing music. We often get some anxious questions from people.

What happens to the music when I get to the end of the aisle?

Do we just cut off abruptly?

Do we keep playing until the end of the song?

What if the song is really long and they end up just standing there like lemons?

We’ve got lots of practice now at judging how to end pieces of music when required. Rest assured we won’t leave you a) stranded up the aisle b) waiting impatiently for the music to stop at the end of the aisle so you can get on and do the deed.

Before your ceremony, we usually have a discussion between ourselves about suitable places to end the piece. It may be that we all agree to amend the music to create a final cadence in agreed ‘stopping points’, and you have not arrived at the end of the aisle we would continue to the next ‘stopping point’.

So long as we can see the end of the aisle (or at least one of us can), we can give the nod to one another to finish playing at the next stopping point. This might be 8 bars away sometimes – so there may be 10-20 seconds once you’ve got to the end of the aisle to wait for the music to stop.

Don’t Worry!

Either way, please do not worry about the music for your walk down the aisle – we are there for you and will keep playing for as long as you need, or end gracefully if you can’t wait any longer and decide to leg it up the aisle!!

What a joy to play for Bex and Simon at Wickham Estate! When a couple specifically asks us to ditch the black and wear something colourful and sparkly to match their eclectic art deco vibe, we know it is going to be a fantastic day.

We first met these two at our Valentines Day gig, and they brought that same fun energy to their wedding. Their music tastes are brilliantly wide-ranging, proving that a string quartet can be romantic even when playing Iron Maiden! They had our interactive Jukebox out for the drinks reception, letting guests pick from a massive mix of 80s, 90s, film scores, and absolute anthems.

It was such a lovely day for a couple whose love story started with swapping fish dishes on a rainy second date and ended with a perfect proposal in pyjamas with a cup of tea. Huge congratulations Bex and Simon!

What a gorgeous autumnal wedding for Becky and Laurence today at Rhinefield House Hotel. Becky is a huge history lover and wanted to bring that elegant Bridgerton energy to their stately home venue, but with a massive twist when it came to their music tastes. They wanted the classical setup but completely modern, upbeat songs so their guests could have a dance and a laugh. Their playlist was an amazing mix of pure pop, 90s nostalgia, and absolute party anthems.
They even used our Jukebox option so guests could choose the tunes, and we did a bespoke arrangement of John Cena The Time is Now which was absolutely brilliant. We loved playing for these two, especially after reading how they met for a socially distanced walk right after the Covid lockdowns with takeaway hot drinks, walking for hours until the rain finally caught them.

Huge congratulations to Jo and Mark who recently tied the knot at the stunning Bury Court Barn in Bentley!

Jo told us she has always loved the emotional sound of a string quartet, so it was a privilege to provide the soundtrack for their celebration after they met online nearly 11 years ago. They asked us for an upbeat and happy atmosphere, and their music taste was absolutely brilliant. We loved blending timeless classics with modern pop anthems to keep the energy high while guests mingled. Kieran and Olivia had the most beautiful wedding at Farbridge in Chichester and it was such an honour to provide the soundtrack for their day. These two met in Brighton on Tinder, talked for hours on their first date, and instantly found best friends in each other.

They told us they chose a string quartet because they love the timeless, romantic atmosphere of live strings, but their music taste is incredibly eclectic and fun! They picked an amazing mix of modern pop, indie, and rock anthems that translated brilliantly to classical instruments. From Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter to Muse and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, it was an absolute joy to play such a unique blend of genres. We even created a bespoke slow arrangement of Home by Good Neighbours for their signing, which was a truly magical moment.
