Living in Oblivion

“Oblivion is a temporary vacation from the grueling labor of carrying your own secrets.”

Raised in Lawrence, Kansas, Abhimanyu Sandal studied painting at California College of the Arts under the mentorship of Bay Area Funk painter Franklin Williams. He then completed a creative monastic residency at The Bhakti Center in NYC’s lower east side. Later he founded and managed Session Space Collective, an art space and gallery in Oakland California that now carries an active legacy of over 15 years. Most recently Abhimanyu completed a fellowship for Penguin Random-house Books at Ten Speed Press in the California Bay Area. He holds a BFA in Visual Communication from the University of Kansas. Currently he lives in Lawrence, Kansas.

Abhimanyu has exhibited paintings in California’s Bay Area, New York City, and the Kansas City area.

The paintings at this show have been intentionally priced affordably for the people of Lawrence.

Artist W. DAVID KEITH is a Kansas City native who studyied illustration and filmmaking at The University of Kansas.
David began his career as a filmmaker, cartoonist and comic book artist before venturing into painting in 2004. He is
known for his KANSAS CITY LEGENDS Series of paintings on display at The Bauer building in the Crossroads Arts District of Kansas City as well as his Taco Murals and taco-centric art like GHOST PRESIDENTS EATING TACOS, THE LAST TACO SUPPER & OUT OF BODY TACO EXPERIENCE. David is inspired by the unusual, the quirky and mysterious as well as Kansas History, Kansas City History (and tacos!) His art has also been animated in the music video “AFTER THE SETTLEMENT” by KC Rock Band SUNEATERS. He also directed the Music Video “BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS” for musician Heidi Lynn Gluck. David’s most recent painting series is the CITY MAP Series featuring local cities like LAWRENCE and their landmarks and famous places with more cities coming this fall. by @thebourgeoispig
