The Brass Iris has space to welcome new team members!
.
The Brass Iris is a quiet little studio located in Esquimalt- We are ground level, cozy, and focused on accountability, accessibility, and community care.
.
We are looking for resident artists, & resident guests! Resident guests are artists who do not have regular days at the shop but can work more flexibly and claim unused days at the shop as they need. All stations are shared between artists
***This is not a mentorship opportunity, and sadly we are not set up to sponsor int artists, we’re sorry!***
.
✨ Our studio is run on shared costs and a non-profit business model, meaning that rent, supplies, and operational costs are split evenly between artists based on studio days.
✨ We supply almost every thing needed to work; exempting machines, colour ink, and currently, coil machine supplies (though we can discuss this if you use a coil! Just no one at the shop currently does)
✨ Most of our supplies are eco friendly/biodegradable!

🎃 Halloween Flash Day at Brass! 🎃

Eryn is in full Rocky Horror mode this year and is here to celebrate our patron saint Tim Curry with a phenomenal selection of designs from the production! (Rumour has it they may have a not-so-secret drag alter ego that is performing the in the all drag cast of Rocky this October as well- get your tickets ASAP, and show off your new tattoo at the event!!)

***Eryn has filled all their slots for this flash day, but you can book these designs for an alternate date by submitting a booking form through Eryn’s @venue.ink ! (linked in their bio!)

Leopold is bringing a full page of cute 90’s halloween catalouge nostalgia, and a wide assortment of designs they’ve been sketching the past few months~ Unfortunately Leopold did post ahead of schedule expecting a slow booking period and is now full, but we’re still posting them anyways because their designs are very cute. If you really have your eye on one though, they may book these for post halloween if you ask nicely! They’ll also have temporary tattoo version of some of these designs available at our Ghost Party Halloween Market- October 17th & 18th!

🎃 ✨Ghost Party : A Halloween Market✨ 🎃
October 17th 12pm - 8pm
&
October 18th 11am - 5pm
at The Brass Iris Studio 941 B Esquimalt Road

It’s time!! Halloween Season is upon us!! Join us for a ghoulish market featuring handmade goods from a plethora of local witches, cryptids, ghosts, ghouls, and more! Funky music, cute n’ creepy wares, candy, a lil’ linocut stamping station to “tattoo” your clothes, doodle portraits by Mila, and more!
Boogie about, support some local creators, dress up, and have fun!
(Might we also mention, this a great opportunity for some pre holiday shopping for the more ghoulishly-inclined peeps in your life!)

No AI, dropshipping, or MLMs - Only real creations from real artists 💛

Masks are still required indoors - let’s protect our community and help this be a safer event for everyone!
We will have masks available at the entrance if you don’t have your own, hand sanitizer is provided, and air purifiers will be running.

Accessibility:
The Brass Iris strives to be an accessible and inclusive space as much as possible.
Our studio has no stairs or large bumps, though we have a small bump at the door. Our bathroom is quite small, but has a wide door, lower sink, and stable support bars. A person that needs room to transfer from a chair in the bathroom will have difficulties, and may not find it possible. We will have music during the event, but it will be at a low volume.

Parking:
We are on a bike route, as well as the 15 bus route.
We have a few parking spots out front, which we would prefer be reserved for those who need a shorter distance to the door. There is some more parking across the street along Carlton terrace, half a block over on Head St, and in the shopping plaza up the road. by @thebrassirisstudio

🎃 ✨Ghost Party: A Halloween Market ✨ 🎃
October 17th and 18th, with set up on the 16th between 5pm - 8pm

👻 Update: Applications now closed! Thanks to all who applied, emails will be sent out soon! 👻

We’re looking for vendors for our halloween market, which will be a cute & creepy halloween themed event!

As always this market will be run on a consignment style basis:
✨ Artists must come and set up their stock between 5pm & 8pm on October 16th, and pick up their stock between 5pm & 8pm on October 18th
✨Artists will have a 2’x2’ space on a table unless otherwise discussed. You can use whatever displays you’d like as long as they fit within that space, and keep items within reach of a customer
✨ Artists do not have to be present for the duration of the market days, only for set up and pick up!
✨ All items must be priced and labeled with a code that will be assigned to you so we can track sales! Payouts are done via e-transfer within the following two weeks at an 80% / 20% split (80% to you, 20% to the shop to help fund future events, fundraisers, space improvements, etc, up to a maximum of $150)

While it is not mandatory that all of your items fall within a halloween theme, we will be giving priority to vendors with at least some halloween-y items/vibes! After all that is the spirit of this event! 👻

All accepted vendors will be expected to help spread the word through sharing posts, telling friends/family, and yelling into the void. Events like this can only be successful if everyone works together to get the word out! by @thebrassirisstudio
