Cocktails at The Bride will be held on October 17th from 5 to 7pm and is close to being sold out so he sure to get your tickets today by visiting bridgehamptonmuseum.org/thebridge or click the link in our bio.

BUILDING ON THEIR LEGACY
The restoration of the Nathaniel Rogers House was made possible because people believed that preserving Bridgehampton’s history was worth investing in.

Bob Morrow and Dennis Suskind were among those who stepped forward in those early years, helping raise the capital and community support needed to turn an ambitious vision into a reality.

Today, the Museum is building on that foundation—welcoming more people, expanding exhibitions and educational programs, caring for our historic properties and collections, and finding new ways to share Bridgehampton’s story.

Cocktails at The Bridge is both a celebration of what Bob and Dennis helped make possible and an opportunity to invest in what comes next.

Your support helps ensure that the work they believed in continues for the next generation.

🌊 FROM HYDRO TO AERO! 💨
Amagansett Elementary students spent the day exploring the historic mills of Water Mill alongside the Bridgehampton Museum and the Water Mill Museum. Together, they investigated the ultimate power duo of early physics and mechanical engineering.

First stop: The Water Mill Museum, one of the oldest water-powered historical buildings on Long Island.
This is where we watched how kinetic energy from flowing water is transferred through an undershot water wheel to grind grain.
The students enjoyed seeing how water pressure does the heavy lifting to turn massive internal mechanics from several different viewing and vantage points.
Talk about an original renewable energy source!
A huge thank you to Sandy and Rachel for sharing so much incredible cultural history with us!
Next up: We stretched our legs walking Main Street and studying the village green as we made our way to our next historic landmark.
Right across the street sits the historic Corwith Windmill! The students had a first-hand look at aerodynamics and simple machines, learning how wind lift turns giant sails to rotate massive internal grinding stones.
About the curriculum and course study

* Fluid Dynamics & Gravity: At the Water Mill Museum, students saw how potential energy stored in the mill pond transforms into kinetic energy as it rushes down a sluice to spin a heavy timber water wheel. A huge thank you to Sandy for showing us exactly how this incredible process works!
* Studying the Landscape: As we walked down Main Street and explored the Village Green, we tracked how early industries relied on local geography and simple machines to create a thriving community.
* Harnessing the Wind: Right across the street at the Corwith Windmill (built c. 1800!), we looked at early aerodynamics. Students learned how changing weather patterns required millers to manually rotate the entire top cap using a 36-foot tail-pole to perfectly catch the breeze!

Art, History, and Sound at the Corwith Property!

Today, Hayground stepped off campus and into an immersive exploration of local history, art, and ecology at the Corwith historic jail and property.
We were thrilled to have local artist Philippe Cheng lead the students today!
Philippe guided students and staff through his incredible art process and sound installation, sparking creative inspiration and showing everyone how contemporary art can breathe new life into historical spaces.

About Philippe Cheng
Philippe Cheng is a highly regarded New York and Bridgehampton-based fine art photographer and multi-disciplinary artist whose evocative work spans capturing deeply emotional visual moments to building layered, site-specific public art and sound installations.

His youthful energy, creative vibrancy, and approachable teaching style are exactly why he is amazing to work with! He brings a deep, lifelong passion for his craft that connects beautifully with students and collaborators.

Current Exhibition
Title: “Where We Stand: An Incomplete Soundtrack”
* The Concept: On view at the historic Bridgehampton Museum Jail through October 31, 2026, this sound installation brings together 18 different pieces—including musical fragments, songs, historical speeches, and spoken poetry—all confined within a single small cell

Students also joined Stacy Myers to dive into the property’s historic architecture and natural history. A major highlight was spending time with the property’s magnificent beech tree! Students climbed into the branches and gathered at its base for a deeply immersive listening experience.
The tree featured a specialized natural history sound installation created by Aimee Lusty. This beautiful audio landscape took students on a sensory journey through a full 24-hour cycle, exploring the shifting sounds of birds, insects, and the wildlife that call our local forests and wetlands home.
A huge thank you to Philippe , the students At Hayground, Aimee , and Stacy for making this multidisciplinary day of learning on the Corwith property so magical!

The Bridgehampton Museum invites the public to celebrate the opening of two new exhibitions on Thursday, October 1, from 6 to 8pm at the Tractor Barn, 2368 Montauk Highway, Bridgehampton.

A Line, A Shape, A Tool brings together work by Will Corwin, Pooneh Maghazehe, Russell Maltz, and Sun You, exploring sculpture through geometry, material, form, utility, and the human impulse to create. Originally presented by Geary in Salisbury, Connecticut, the exhibition brings four distinct approaches to contemporary sculpture into dialogue.

Also on view is RUSSELL MALTZ: PAINTED/STACKED/SUSPENDED “MAKING ITSELF,” a survey of more than four decades of Maltz’s materially driven approach to abstract painting and sculpture. Using industrial materials and site-specific installations, Maltz challenges traditional definitions of painting, sculpture, and abstraction.

Join us for an evening celebrating these exhibitions and the artists whose work expands the possibilities of contemporary art.

A perfect morning on the water! Thank you to the Clark family and the Captains and Crew at the South Ferry for the warm welcome and for hosting an incredibly educational morning out on the bay. Cliff it was so wonderful for our students to have the opportunity speak with you and tour the deck with you. Captain Erik your dedication for sharing local maritime knowledge and environmental stewardship is truly inspiring. It was with great pleasure to have on deck Rachel from the Water Mill Museum , Eric Sep Science Chair from Ross School, and the students and staff at the Ross School.

We were also honored to be joined by Suffolk County Legislator Ann Welker. Thank you, Legislator Welker, for your leadership, your continued dedication to protecting our local waterways, and for spending the morning with us. Your steadfast commitment to water quality preservation makes a world of difference for the East End!

Thank you all for collaborating giving students hands-on maritime experiences like this makes all the difference!

About the ferry
* Origins (Late 1700s): Began operations in the 1790s when Samuel G. Clark started ferrying neighbors and travelers across the narrow channel using a simple rowboat. This succeeded an earlier route established by Jonathan Havens in 1716.
* Family Ownership (1830–Present): Formally founded as a business by Samuel G. Clark in 1830 and continuously owned and operated by the Clark family across six generations, making it one of the oldest family-owned ferry operations in the United States.
* Evolution of Vessels: Transitioned from rowboats and sailboats towing barges to motorized launches around 1900, wooden double-ended vessels in 1910, and modern steel-hulled vessels between 1959 and 1960.
* Milestones: Incorporated in 1906 and added to the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry in 2022.

“The Bridgehampton Museum is investing in the next generation by connecting school curricula with cultural history, and we are thrilled to have the support of our incredible community!” Stacy Myers Educator Bridgehampton Museum.

A historic day in Bridgehampton! On behalf of The Bridgehampton Museum, we want to send a huge, heartfelt thank you to the fantastic team at @infiniti and the incredible event coordinators at The Hatchery agency! Cherise and Kim, it was an absolute pleasure to plan and execute this beautiful educational event with you.
We kicked off our day at the stunning @toppingrosehouse, strolling down Main Street to explore the remarkable architecture and rich cultural history that shapes Bridgehampton.
Stepping onto the historic Corwith property, we opened the next chapter of the day with the “North and South Fork: A Twin Fork Photographic Journey” exhibition. Curated beautifully by Rory McNish (@rorymacnish )and Tim Regan (@southforksalt), their stunning local landscapes and coastal photography gave everyone a deep appreciation for the unique spirit of the East End.
From there, our educational program shifted gears and traveled back to the 15th century inside the Tractor Barn for an intimate, hands-on studio session: The Kintsugi Experience.

Our guests discovered the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi (金継ぎ), or “golden joinery”—the practice of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted in real gold. Rather than hiding fractures, this beautiful technique highlights them, turning a broken object into a resilient masterpiece. Inspired by the legendary history of Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa’s broken tea bowl, our group created uniquely beautiful pieces of their own to take home!
We are incredibly grateful to @infiniti for supporting our community and educational endeavors. From sharing their custom “How to Spend a Weekend in the Hamptons” guide—perfectly directing guests to the best local beaches and farm stands—to championing local heritage, their commitment to curated experiences shone through beautifully.

Thank you again for an exceptional collaboration!
