Forgettable website? We don’t know her. by @thebuffalocollective

Three years ago, Shelby hired me for a website that matched where she was at the time. It was light, airy, polished, with soft tones and clean lines. It had a little clean-girl era energy, and it suited her then.

Now? She’s more seasoned in her work. More confident in herself. More established, more experienced, more mature. She grew into herself.

So for this new era, we went in a completely new direction.

Moody. Grounded. Rich burgundy, deep green, film grain layered in. More depth.

There’s warmth in it, but there’s also confidence. It feels refined without feeling stiff, romantic without trying too hard, elevated without losing the heart behind her work.

I have one more available spot for a semi custom website in June, so if you’re website isn’t quite reflecting who you are now, feel free to reach out ✨ by @thebuffalocollective

I launched the Reverie template a few months ago and somehow never actually made a post introducing her, which is kind of wild considering how much thought and planning went into this one (it seriously was in the works for almost two years!)

At first glance, she’s modern, editorial, and a little minimal - but the thing I love most about this template isn’t actually the design.

Every page and every bit of the built in copy was written with album, wall art, and heirloom sales in mind (I’m not kidding, the copy is entirely pre-written for you to use!)

Yes, a website can be beautiful, but it should also be helping clients understand the value of what you’re selling.

Anyway, I figured it was finally time for a proper introduction! by @thebuffalocollective

Time for a post that goes a little deeper than “Showit Design Partner since 2014.” 🙃

I grew up with two parents who owned their own businesses, so you can say entrepreneurship is in my blood (not just my blood, I can feel it deep in my BONES), and I’ve always been a big advocate for creating your own dream life/freedom. The last “job” I worked for another employer was back in 2014, and I can proudly say I will never go back.

My business is lovingly named after my hometown of Buffalo, NY, and the creative community I’ve been so blessed to be a part of. Since 2017, I’ve been part of a photography collective called Buffalo Obscura. Our mission is to bring art outside of the formal gallery space and into obscure locations throughout the city (often abandoned spaces!) and to make art affordable and accessible for everyone.

I’m obsessed with old houses and old buildings, and in 2021 I bought my first home, a small 800 sq. ft. pre-Civil War house two blocks from downtown Buffalo. She’s my pride and joy (along with my cat, Abigail). There’s nothing I love more than working on house projects or spending the afternoon gardening.

I’m a millennial through and through, and a former emo kid. Something Corporate always was, and still is, my fave band, but I’ve also always been a big fan of Dashboard, Taking Back Sunday, and The Starting Line. Lately, I really love Ella Langley, and I’ve always loved house/electronic music, so I guess you could say my tastes are really all over the place!

I turn 38 later this month (everyone is always shocked when they hear my age for some reason), and there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t realize how much my younger self would be so proud of where I’ve landed in life (and that I’m still listening to the same bands 😂). by @thebuffalocollective

The joy has been in the little things. A regulated nervous system. A full garden. Sunset ice cream. Afternoon lattes. Birkenstock tan lines. Dripping sweat watching my favorite kiddos play baseball. Dinner with my family at the table…🌞

PS can we also just give Buffalo a round of applause for being so beautiful in the summer?! taken in Buffalo, New York by @thebuffalocollective

Mediterranean, sculptural, patterned, punchy. 🍊🍅

PS I’ve decided to make this series monthly rather than weekly….seems like a much more streamlined way to show what’s inspiring me on the interwebs! by @thebuffalocollective

When Emery and I started working together, one thing became clear pretty quickly: she doesn’t approach weddings the way a lot of photographers do.

She’s paying attention to the people standing quietly in the background. The moments unfolding when nobody thinks anyone is watching. The things that might seem small in the moment but end up meaning so much years later.

So instead of building a brand and website around trends or what everyone else in the wedding industry is doing right now, we built something a little more intentional.

The words, the illustrations, the textures, the scrapbook-inspired details, the worn paper backgrounds, all of it was inspired by Emery herself. The things she loves. The way she sees the world and the way she approaches her work.

Cheers, Emery! 🥂 by @thebuffalocollective
