Having the best time on tour in the South-East USA supporting @carsieblanton So inspired by the hundreds of committed organizers from @pslnational @demsocialists and so many other orgs that we’re meeting, all kicking back at fascism on so many fronts. We appreciate you! We’re also just having so much fun. ❤️ 📸 @stewartcherry by @theburninghellband

A joyous and revolutionary night of music at @southerncville with @carsieblanton and @theburninghellband, plus a guest appearance by @devonsproule. It was an evening of songs about how it was, how it is, and how it might be if stop fighting one another and start fighting the rich and powerful. It all ended with an outdoor sing-along in the rain for @peoples_songs. I already knew I liked Carsie and Devon, but The Burning Hell were a revelation. When they finished playing, @authorslrinaldi turned to me and said, "That band was made for you." Smart, funny, fearless songwriting; wild arranging (guitar, vocals, and bass clarinet — why not?); and the kind of heart-on-a-denim-sleeve performance that I just adore. I am already obsessed. I was so glad to be there with my friend Jordan and my partner. The purpose of art is to remind us that we're human. How do I know? Because that's what it does. #charlottesville #livemusic #carsieblanton #theburninghell by @theburninghellband

THE BURNING HELL THURSDAY MARCH 18, 7-9PM $35/25 https://www.smithsalternative.com/events/the-burning-hell-104733 The Burning Hell is the musical project of songwriter Mathias Kom and multi-instrumentalist Ariel Sharratt, based in the woods of rural Prince Edward Island, Canada. Their narrative-driven songs are packed with an abundance of literary, historical, and pop-cultural subjects, incorporating a frequent fixation on apocalypse and ruin into work that celebrates participation in a mutually created, ever surprising, and even occasionally beautiful world. Ariel and Mathias weave bass clarinet and electric guitar through their humourous and sometimes heartbreaking story songs about gannets and garbage, ghosts and capitalism, labour and robots. In their live sets, they emphasize presence and connection, affirming a commitment to the political power of sharing music. In 2027 they’ll be touring Australia again, with stops at Port Fairy and Nannup Music Festivals, and a side trip to go birding at the Werribee sewage treatment plant (which they have a love song about). taken in Smith's Alternative by @theburninghellband
