These 99 steps are going to look absolutely insane in fall and we are coming back in a week 🍂😮 Thornton Bales Conservation Area in Newmarket is one of the most hidden and most beautiful hikes near Toronto and right now the leaves are still green — but give it one more week and this place is going to be absolutely magical 🍁 Here is everything you need to know before you go 👇

🪜 The Famous 99 Steps
A steep wooden staircase descending down the escarpment into an old-growth oak, ash and maple forest 🌳 The change in vertical elevation from top to bottom is actually GREATER than the drop over Niagara Falls 😮 We dare you to count all 99 steps 😂

🌳 The Forest
At the bottom you enter a stunning old-growth forest filled with ferns, wild ginger and ground pine — imagine all of this in full fall colour in just a week 🍂

🥾 The Trails
Red Oak Trail Loop — 7.19km
99 Steps Trail — 1km | 62m elevation gain
Koffler-Bales Side Trail — connects to Jokers Hill 🌿
