🐺 A new contender in the EDC sling game!

Huge thanks to @emberwolvesgear for sending over their Alpha Pack Tactical Edition for The Carry Edit to check out!

This is the 2.6L version, wrapped in rugged X50 X-Pac, and it's packing some seriously interesting features into a compact footprint.

We're talking magnetic quick-access pockets, an integrated MagSafe dock, clever internal organization, and a magnetic quick-release buckle. 👀

First impressions? There's definitely some interesting design thinking going on here, and I'm excited to put it through its paces!

🎥 Here's a quick unboxing and first look. A full review will follow once I've had some proper time with it.

What do you think? Could this earn a spot in your EDC rotation? 👇

My first full review/comparison video is officially live! 🎒

Today I’m putting one of my favourite bags in my collection — my custom small-batch @ctactical.vietnam CTR — up against a pack that’s had my attention for the last few months, the @arch_ind C/VT 22.

Both are incredibly capable bags, but they come in at very different price points.

So the big question is:

Is the extra cost of the C/VT actually worth it?
I break down what I like about each, where they differ, and which one I’d choose.

The full video is live now on The Carry Edit check it out and let me know which one you’d pick: CTR or C/VT?

The ALPAKA x CLOGTWO Flow Satchel 4L has quickly become one of those slings that just makes sense for lighter EDC days.

At 4L, it’s compact without feeling limiting. The pocketing is incredibly well thought out, everything has a place, and I can carry all of my daily essentials without the bag feeling bulky or overloaded.

And the X50 Multicam Black is easily one of my favourite parts. It gives the Flow Satchel that technical, slightly tactical look while still being subtle enough for everyday use.

Phone, wallet, power bank, earbuds, knife, and my Alpaka Admin Pouch Pro. It all fits surprisingly well.

Sometimes you really don’t need 20+ litres. This has been a great reminder that a well-designed 4L sling can carry a lot more than you’d expect.

What’s your sweet spot for a light EDC sling — 2L, 4L, or 6L+?

The @greenroom136 Quickdraw BYC has quietly become my go-to weekend carry.

It’s one of those bags that just works when I don’t need a full backpack but still want to bring more than the bare essentials. I can toss everything I need inside, including my all important 11” iPad Pro and eReader, both tucked away in their own protected device compartment.

There’s still plenty of room for my 17oz Kambukka travel mug, along with the rest of my lighter EDC essentials, without the bag feeling overloaded or cumbersome.

Compact when I want it to be, capable when I need it to be.

The more I use the Quickdraw BYC, the more I appreciate just how well it fills that space between a small sling and a full-size backpack.

Definitely earning its spot in the weekend rotation.

What’s your ideal weekend carry sling, messenger, or backpack?

This one is a little more special than just another bag post.

The Arch CVT22 was sent over to me by a good friend, and getting some time with it has been such a cool full-circle moment. My custom CTR was actually heavily inspired by this exact bag, so being able to have the two together, photograph them, and really appreciate the details side by side has been pretty special.

One of the best parts of getting deeper into the carry world hasn’t just been discovering new bags, fabrics, or designs — it’s been the people. I genuinely feel blessed to be part of a community where friendships are built around a shared obsession, people trust each other with some seriously special pieces, and everyone is constantly helping each other learn, create, and find that next great carry.

This CVT22 definitely hasn’t helped my temptation either. 😂 After finally getting my hands on one, I already know that at some point I’m going to have to place an order for a custom CVT of my own.

For now, I’m just grateful for the opportunity to spend some time with this one — and even more grateful for the friend who trusted me with it.

This is what the carry community is all about.

What would your dream custom CVT build look like? 👀

The @chuyentactical CTR has quietly become a staple in my rotation.

This particular build is made from Ultra 200X with a Very Berry Ultragrid interior, and it completely changed my perspective on technical fabrics. I'll admit, I was skeptical of Ultra at first. But after months of use, the combination of durability, structure, hand feel, and the way it rolls and settles has made it one of my favorite materials to carry.

I've seen a lot of requests for a smaller CTR, but for my needs, the standard size strikes an excellent balance. It handles my extended daily carry with ease, and when I need extra capacity, a quick adjustment of the rolltop gives me all the flexibility I need without compromising the clean silhouette.

The CTR impressed me enough that I used my small-batch slot to commission a custom build. I'm incredibly excited to see how it turns out, and even more excited to see what Chuyen Tactical has planned for the future.

The more bags I experience, the more I find myself gravitating toward thoughtfully designed rolltops. The versatility, weather resistance, and expandable capacity are hard to ignore.

What about you? Are you a fan of rolltop bags, or do you prefer a more traditional clamshell or panel-loader design?

There’s something refreshing about a bag that gets the balance right.

The Haize Project CS25 has quickly become one of those packs for me. From the moment I loaded it up, the adjustable harness system stood out. Being able to dial in the fit makes a huge difference, whether I’m carrying it lightly packed for the office or loaded up for a full day out.

The pocketing is equally well thought out. There’s enough organization to keep everything exactly where I want it, but it never crosses into the territory of feeling complicated or over-engineered. Every pocket feels intentional, and finding gear is effortless.

The build quality is outstanding. Every stitch, panel, zipper, and hardware choice feels premium and built to last. It’s the kind of craftsmanship that makes you appreciate the details every time you pick it up.

And then there’s the RX30 fabric. This is my first experience with it, and I completely understand the hype now. It has a unique hand feel that’s both soft and structured, looks incredible in different lighting conditions, and feels durable enough to handle years of use. The subtle texture and character give the CS25 a look that stands out without trying too hard.

Safe to say this has been an impressive introduction to both Haize Project and RX30.

What’s your favorite bag fabric right now?

This week's carry is one of my favorites. The @alpakagear Traverse 30L Astral Edition in UVX40 is such a special bag.

This bag has just the right amount of organization, I have been able to find the perfect spot for all my EDC gear. The side quick access pocket is brilliant for my wallet and earbuds, easy to unzip and grab my wallet when I'm going for those quick coffee runs ☕☕

I've been using this bag for the past month and the straps have broken in nicely and become a lot more comfortable. I can't wait to take this with me on my next flight, this would make the perfect personal item or even one bag travel companion for shorter trips.

The materials and build quality are top notch. I wish Alpaka had gone with a different interior color, the purple from their Cyber Edition packs would have looked amazing here. This was my first backpack from Alpaka and safe to say it won't be the last.

Some bags are just bags... and then there are the ones you've been chasing since day one.

The Mystery Ranch x Carryology Dragon 2.0 has been my grail ever since this backpack obsession began. Every time one came up, I admired it from afar, wondering if it would ever find its way into my collection.
Now it's finally here.

Instead of letting it sit on a shelf, I'm breaking it in the right way. This week it's joining me and my trusty CTactical CTR, on a four day road trip with my wife as we celebrate our 4 year wedding anniversary. I can't think of a better way to start making memories with a bag that's been on my wishlist for so long.

Over the next few weeks and months, I'll be putting the Dragon 2.0 through its paces with daily carry, weekend adventures, and photography outings to see if it truly lives up to its legendary reputation.

The real question is: does it earn a permanent place in the collection?

What's your grail backpack, and did it live up to the hype once you finally got your hands on it?

Some pieces don't need loud branding to stand out.

Picked up this leather passport wallet from @pirategoods , and the quality speaks for itself. The leather feels incredible in hand, the stitching is clean and precise, and it's one of those items that already feels like it'll age beautifully with every trip. The kind of gear that gets better the more you use it.

Finished it off with one of my favourite patches from @patchawa_can —a small detail that makes it feel a little more personal.

Sometimes the best carry isn't the most complicated. It's just well-made gear that you'll be happy to reach for every day.

What's the oldest leather item in your carry that's developed an amazing patina?

Sometimes it's the small details that complete a setup.

Just got a package in from Oddjob Everyday Carry with a Griffin 2x2 patch for the Evergoods CPL24, along with a couple of patch tags to switch things up.

I've always liked how a simple patch can add a bit of personality without taking away from the clean look of a bag. Looking forward to seeing how these settle into the rotation.

What patch are you currently running on your everyday carry?

One week with my first GoRuck and I have a confession…

I get it now.

This Skate Ruck came to me preloved, rocking paracord-wrapped handles and Austere ladder locks, and it's quickly become one of those bags that just feels right. Incredible materials, overbuilt in all the best ways, and packed with personality from its previous owner.

I used to wonder why GoRuck owners were so loyal.

Now I understand.

What's your gateway GoRuck? 👇
