📍 Where? Furnari, Messina (Sicily, Italy)

Depression in Art focuses on giving tools to youth and youth workers to navigate their emotions better. Art is becoming a medium of communication here — visuals, sounds, sensations. It is a preparation for the art exhibition that will be the next step of Beyond The Surface project.

🧠 October 10th: World Mental Health Day

Taking care of the mind also means letting it bloom. 🌱

Sometimes the mind doesn’t heal through silence, but through creating: recording a podcast, picking up a paintbrush, taking a photo, filming something that matters. Putting into words, images or sound what we carry inside is also a way of understanding it, of making it lighter, of turning it into something we can share instead of something we hide.

Asking for help is not a sign of weakness, it’s an act of courage, and creativity can be one of the ways we find to ask for it, even without saying it out loud.

💬 If you’re not okay today, you’re not alone. And if you are okay, there might be someone around you who needs to hear this.

🌍 This campaign is part of “Beyond the Surface”, a European project using art and creativity to promote youth mental health and wellbeing, co-funded by the European Union.

Prendersi cura dei giovani significa anche prendersi cura di chi lavora con loro. 💙

“Upskilling Youth Work” punta a migliorare la qualità del lavoro con i giovani, mettendo al centro la crescita professionale e il benessere degli operatori giovanili. 🙌

Attraverso una mobilità internazionale, il progetto ha riunito youth worker di diversi Paesi per condividere esperienze, ripensare le proprie pratiche e costruire legami professionali duraturi. 🌍🤝

I nostri obiettivi?

🛠️ Rafforzare le competenze attraverso il Portfolio del Consiglio d’Europa.
💡 Creare spazio per riflettere sul proprio ruolo e migliorare il modo di lavorare con i giovani.
🧘 Promuovere la cura di sé e la prevenzione del burnout.
🔄 Imparare gli uni dagli altri, scambiando strumenti, idee e buone pratiche.
🚀 Fornire risorse concrete per la crescita personale e professionale e per i progetti futuri.

Abbiamo contribuito a un lavoro con i giovani più consapevole, efficace e sostenibile nel tempo, capace di rispondere ai loro bisogni a livello locale e internazionale. ✨

Perché anche chi accompagna gli altri nella crescita ha bisogno di occasioni per crescere. 🌱

Depression in Art | Beyond the Surface 🇮🇹

¡Seguimos avanzando con nuestro proyecto Erasmus+ KA2 Beyond the Surface! 💚

Después de nuestro primer Training Course en Polonia 🇵🇱 el pasado mes de mayo, del 24 al 28 de septiembre nos reencontramos para vivir la segunda parte del proyecto, esta vez en Sicilia, Italia 🇮🇹, con el Training Course “Depression in Art”. ✨

Durante estos días exploramos, a través de diferentes actividades y formas de expresión artística, cómo el arte puede ayudarnos a reconocer, comprender y comunicar emociones y sentimientos difíciles.

🎨 Creatividad, fotografía, vídeo, reflexión y experimentación fueron algunas de las herramientas que utilizamos para abordar la salud mental y el bienestar desde nuevas perspectivas y descubrir formas de dar voz a aquello que, a veces, resulta difícil expresar con palabras.

Además de aprender nuevas metodologías y herramientas para nuestro trabajo con jóvenes, compartimos experiencias, ideas y momentos con participantes de diferentes países. 🌍
Y esto todavía no ha terminado… 👀

La tercera parte de Beyond the Surface llegará en marzo de 2027 y será en Málaga 🇪🇸. ¡Esta vez seremos nosotros quienes recibamos al grupo! 💙

Ci sono cose che un «tutto bene» non racconta. 🎧

L’ansia prima di una scelta, il confronto continuo sui social, la difficoltà di chiedere aiuto. Con Beyond the Surface, dedichiamo cinque episodi a quello che proviamo e che, a volte, facciamo fatica a esprimere.

Insieme a Marco, Gianluca, Carim e alla psicologa Francesca Sofia, apriamo una conversazione sulla salute mentale, tra esperienze personali, domande e ascolto. 💬

Ecco cosa troverai:

• Ansia e panico: le differenze e come stare accanto a chi attraversa un momento difficile.
• L’ansia nella vita quotidiana: a cosa serve, come si manifesta nel corpo e quando diventa un problema.
• Attacchi di panico e terapia: comprenderli e parlare del supporto professionale senza vergogna.
• Giovani, social e futuro: il peso delle aspettative, le scelte e il confronto con gli altri.
• Confidarsi e chiedere aiuto: il ruolo di amici e terapeuti e l’importanza di comunicare i propri bisogni.

I podcast nascono nell’ambito di Beyond the Surface, il progetto europeo che intreccia creatività, strumenti digitali e partecipazione per promuovere il benessere emotivo dei giovani e ridurre lo stigma sulla salute mentale.
