stories:
nausea ~
first song that (johnny and i) wrote just the two of us. came together like a breeze, decided to record it without haste. It uses a chordal shape inversion i stylized and now use in most songs & unlike most others, the lyrics were written before the melodies.

zig zag ~
the chorus was written about 15 years ago on the piano. A dandy warhol homage celebrating hedonism and debauchery, teleporting you to a surreal Herman Hesse-esk novel or blade / eyes wide shut clandestine rave captured on a cellphone.

supernatural ~
This quirky bop felt unfinished until we had the bright idea to add a pre chorus that happens only once of course and by good fortune procure my exuberant cousin (practically sister) @imogenclarkmusic to lend her angelic alabaster vocals on to the track last minute.

elevate ~
This was the early stirrings of what was to become The Cherubs. The first thing written for this ep and only one in open g tuning. The chorus was written immediately on my way to a writing session with @luca_crothers when i got trapped in an elevator.. so i used it as a metaphor.

favourite thing ~
Good friend and guitar prodigy @kyrandanielmusic had returned from one of his world tours performing his sensual guitar licks for the hoi polloi to surf my couch once again. One bright Sunny heatwave morning John, Kyran and I decided we should record a song in the house with the help of Liam and Tom respectively. The finishing product is a bona fide peculiar love letter riddled with influences ranging from libertines to george benson. The song went through several incarnations over the writing process thus it may take a couple of listens but worth it in our humble opinion.

tropical peaches ~
Another prematurely written piece in the puzzle with @luca_crothers & @jxsejxse influence. An ode to the feeling of popping a sparkling in the sunshine with mates listening to frank ocean and the gap band. A yacht rock /jazz-fusion number that saw new life when @casebass123 composed the funkiest bass line on it & @liambradburyclark added his slick n sensual sauce. AND a drum machine. everything sounds better with a four on the floor right? the end x by @thecherubsx
