On the 13th of may, 2025, we brought Scilly to her forever home.
She was sold to us from a ‘riding school’. We knew at first glance she needed to come home with us, she was emaciated, shut down, in obvious pain. Quite simply there was no way she wasn’t leaving that place.
However at the time we thought her health issues were superficial, and with good diet and tack she would be right as rain in no time.
…So much for that plan

Saffy has been on a month long hiatus at the vets due to an abscess that never healed quite right, she’s been on stable rest for weeks after a long, intense surgery. She has behaved so well, this mare is one in a million and has coped being in a foreign place, without her herd, during a heat wave, and in a stable (saffy NEVER goes in a stable).
Between me, her owner and owners daughter @bear.and.becca we visited her 5/6 days a week so she was never alone and had full support from her humans all the time.
She knows she’s there to get better, and has recovered brilliantly and best of all, has stayed calm enough for her wound to heal nicely.
Saffy’s owners hope to bring her home on Tuesday and best believe I’ll be stood on the drive with a welcome home cake. Although I’ve honestly gotten so used to being in that stable I might even miss it…. Maybe. by @thechestnutmare_

Scilly is lame again 😴😴

No one told Scilly that being 18 years old, out of work and arthritic means you shouldn’t really bomb up and down steep hills in gallop at all hours of the day and night. Turns out that can cause stiffness and injury. Who knew?

A couple weeks off with some extra TLC and Danilol should sort it.
So much for consistent training 🤦‍♀️ by @thechestnutmare_
