KOFA Won The Best Feature Film at the @afriff Globe Awards!A movie on which I am a producer and executive producer won big, y'all! 🥳🥂🎉💐✅🙏🏽❤️***The journey to KOFA began 6 years ago in my condo in Calgary, Alberta. One chilly fall morning, Jude Idada sat in the living room and began writing it voraciously with the starvation that befalls a creative and would do anything to get this film produced. Fast forward to a few months later, cameras were rolling in Lagos, Nigeria where this talented cast and crew believed wholeheartedly in bringing the vision to life: @k8henshaw @etimeffiong @ginacastel @ijeomagraceagu @a_yinna @thebeverlynaya @udokaoyeka @zainabbalogun @lucyamehlucious @bichopcblunt among many other shining stars. I had the honour of naming this film "KOFA" and did so because I believed the film had to embody more than its previous English phrase. It had to represent the repressed and speak out. A sort of reaching in and pulling out and, boy, did it stick? KOFA carries the weight of a heavy subject matter on its back. When you see it, you will understand. The journey to KOFA has not been without dire consequences. A bittersweet journey. Literal blood, sweat, tears, and snot. Shattered hearts and broken bank accounts. Strained companionships and insomnia. But KOFA made it. It made it with sheer hope. The one that keeps those who are living, living. Hope that one right turn could massage the scars of more than half a decade of toil. Today this little forgotten stone has been glorified as the chief cornerstone. It was nominated for: Best ActressBest DirectorAudience Choice AwardIt won the:Best ScreenplayBest Actor ...And has taken home the biggest award of the night. The biggest of my projects in my humble emerging career. The biggest at a film festival where Black Panther premiered in Africa. To the ALMIGHTY be all the glory!!!#kofa by @thechibie
