Hello ✨

My name's Elisa 👩‍🍳 welcome to my baking page.

I overthought this first post for an embarrassing amount of time, and then I realized, the only right choice is to dedicate it to the bake that started it all:

The chocolate chip cookie -- a fierce underdog, my favorite cookie, and my love letter to baking.

*clears throat* Here's the honest truth, a few years ago I was defeated by how many soulless chocolate chip cookies I had tried. I wanted to find one that turned me into a regular.

After enough sad cookies, I couldn't help but think: is this the standard we created for this versatile gift to the human palate? A safe basic? It's borderline neglect, really.

They deserve better. We 𝒂𝒍𝒍 deserve better.

What started as a quest to create a flavorful CCC, turned into a passion for creating high quality baked goods. Now, inspiration comes from the greats, AND the not-so-goods.

Some of you might be thinking, "aNoThER CooKiE inSTa??" And that makes me sad because ~clearly~ you haven't found that life-changing cookie yet. Or, maybe you just don't like cookies, and I guess that's fine, too...

I can't promise you that my cookie will be that for you, but fear not, little chippies, I know the cookie for you is out there, and there are more than just cookies to come.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading, and I hope you follow along, for...whatever this is 🍪

⚫black & white⚪ cookies

these cookies were a lot of fun to make!

growing up in NY i should have known there was a reason that these cookies get so much love, but they never visually appealed to me, so i never wanted one.

sometimes it takes standing in a bakery with an encouraging friend to try something not-so-new, and realizing how much you've been missing out, and also realizing that you now MUST sample them whenever the opportunity arises to test out flavors and textures so that you can perfect them at home

how does everyone feel about black and white cookies?

it's spice season ☕

& these mexican hot cocoa cookies are already the winners for me this year

the cookies are rich with cocoa and have spice for that warm, cozy feeling

base: dutch and black cocoa powder
spices: cinnamon forward, ginger notes, and cayenne for heat at the end
topping: rolled in cinnamon and sugar

building these cookies was fun because i learned about the many variations of spiced hot cocoa, and then chose the flavors i preferred

NATIONAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE DAY 🍪

the one & only

it's been a busy summer away from baking, spent gardening (anyone want zucchini bread??), running, watching and playing soccer, just being outside, and some travel.

somehow i thought i would still have time to dedicate to baking...maybe if i had an outdoor oven 🤔

time humbled me and the unexpected break has given me the opportunity to rest and foster inspiration, and when the time is right, there will be baked goods.

until then, eat a chocolate chip cookie
