For film and media to become a sustainable creative economy, we need the structure behind the stories: systems, financing, distribution, infrastructure, ownership, and pathways that allow creative work to create lasting value.

Because making more films is only one part of building an industry.

The bigger question is: what happens after the film is made?

Who owns it?
Who distributes it?
Who benefits from its success?
What systems allow the next filmmaker to build from it?

A thriving creative economy needs more than creativity. It needs an ecosystem designed to support it. by @thechisomofor

Apparently, “you should introduce yourself” applies even when you’ve been busy building things. 😂

So… before I continue behaving like everyone already knows me, here we are.

My passion.
My work ethic.
My mindset.
My taste.
My obsession with asking “why?” when no one else seems to see the need to. 😒

And a few other things I bet you didn’t know about me.

Now that we’ve officially been introduced, I suppose we can properly get started.

So, apparently we’ve been married for a whole year. 😂

One year ago, we were dressed up, taking pictures, smiling at everybody and saying “forever” like we fully understood what we were signing up for. 😂

Fast forward to today and we’ve discovered that marriage is also:

“What are we eating today?”
“Where are you?”
“Did you see my charger?”
“Why did you put that there?”
…and occasionally, “Okay, you were right.” 😂

We’ve had beautiful days, ordinary days, challenging days and plenty of moments that only the two of us understand.

And if Year One has taught me anything, it’s that marriage isn’t about having everything figured out. It’s about learning each other, making room for each other and choosing to keep building.

And honestly, I love being married. I love my husband, I love what we’re building together, and I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything.

One year in. We’re just getting started. ❤️

Omo, Lagos was not playing with me. 😭

I had a roof over my head, a presenting gig paying ₦90,000 a week, and plans to finally make my little apartment feel like home.

So why was I still struggling to afford the life I wanted?

At the time, I thought I just needed to work harder. I didn’t realise how much my impatience was beginning to influence my decisions.

And some of those decisions? Omo. It would take me a while to recover.

For the longest time, I thought being determined meant refusing to bend.

I didn’t realise that sometimes, the very thing standing between you and the life you want is your unwillingness to approach things differently.

Episode 8 explores the uncomfortable lessons I learnt at home, my relationship with my father, and the journey back to Lagos.

I know what it feels like to be burnt out.

As a founder of two businesses, work can easily become all-consuming, so I’ve learned that having a life outside of work is just as important as the work itself.

These are some of the things I love that keep me grounded after a long day, remind me to slow down, move my body, stay curious and make space for the people and things that matter to me. by @thechisomofor

Your career will test your ego.

I learned that the hard way after getting fired two months into a job and making the situation considerably worse for myself.

I know there’s a lot of resistance to AI in film, and I understand why.

But I also think we need to make room for a more nuanced conversation. Not just what AI could replace, but what it could make possible for filmmakers.

I really enjoyed my time volunteering at the National Ai Flim festival.

There were some really interesting conversations around where AI is taking film, what it could mean for filmmakers, and the possibilities we’re only beginning to explore.

I shared a few of the moments and ideas that stayed with me.
