Sam’s First Retrieve
~
Story time… Sam’s first toy was a little stuffed duck (second picture). This was optimistic of me since I had no idea how to train a bird dog. This morning, after recovering from the 🌽 incident and surgery. Sam had his first hunt of the year. First bird fell into some thick brush and thicket and Sam dove in head first, completely blind, about 50 yards behind us. Knowing I wouldn’t be able to find it myself I let him do his thing and he happily came trotting out with the mallard drake in his mouth. Straight into my hand.

So proud of this little dude. I can’t wait for the countless birds we will share.

🎉 SAM IS 2 🎉
~
Year 2 has been a big one. Here is a recap // We moved to Colorado - went on our first hunt together - Sam saw snow for the first time - met so many new friends (doggo and human) - still working on not whining on the boat.
