Practice makes perfect✨
From learning the Suruti Tillana from Shweta tai in 4 days, practicing it in parts for precision and performing it confidently on stage was indeed a very inspiring journey. Thank you Poonam tai for believing in us🤍

The unbroken circle of learning. From being a shishya to becoming a guru. 🪔✨🌿

Everything I am as a dancer and a teacher flows directly from the grace, patience, and wisdom of my Guru. To stand in my own studio today and pass those exact same traditions down to my students is the most humbling, full-circle feeling in the world.

Honoring the hands that guided my very first steps, and celebrating the sweet young souls who now look up to me.

Happy Guru Purnima to every teacher who lights the path, and every student who keeps the art alive! 🙏🏽🩰🌸

Missing you a lot Sandhya tai.
@poonamgokhale Forever grateful for your unwavering love and support. Could not be where I am today without you🥹💞

The ultimate rhythm transition check. 🔥⏱️
The foundation of Carnatic rhythm relies on five main rhythmic groupings known as the Pancha Jaatis.
Cycling through all 5 jaati Tishra (3), Chatushra (4), Khanda (5), Mishra (7), and Sankirna (9) back-to-back!
There is nothing more satisfying than hearing the ghungroos shift precision and speed as the mathematical framework of the rhythm changes. Keeping the araimandi steady while diving into these transitions is the ultimate test of stamina and focus. 🪵✨
A little Monday afternoon practice room energy to keep the foundational footwork absolutely crisp!

“See, mother! Wherever I go to play, they won’t stop gossiping about me...” 🤫👧🏽
✨
There is nothing more charming in Bharatanatyam than Abhinaya (expression) when it channels the playful, innocent complaints of little Krishna to his mother, Yashoda.
I have always deeply loved enacting Krishna’s character, exploring all his mischief and charm. Sharing a raw snippet from my practice session today! I had the absolute privilege of learning this beautiful choreography during a workshop with the brilliant @shwesta ma’am.
✨
In this Kannada Devaranama, ‘Ada hOdalle makkaLu’, Krishna runs to his mom because the neighborhood kids keep whispering secrets and winking at each other the moment he walks onto the playground! 🏃🏽‍♂️
Devaranama: Ada hOdalle makkaLu
Composer: Purandara Dasa | Ragam: Khamas

In Bharatanatyam, a Korvai isn’t just a sequence of complex movements it is a lesson in ultimate focus and mathematical rhythm. The clarity of every single tap requires complete alignment of the mind, geometry, and body. Practice makes this effortless.
A week ago, I was incredibly inspired during a workshop by the brilliant @shwesta , where I had the privilege of learning this dynamic Korvai.
Working on this pattern reminds me constantly of the precision passed down by my gurus, and the immense learning I get from great masters in our field. This dedication, discipline, and cultural respect is exactly what I am bringing into my own classes.
Thank you @poonamgokhale tai for always creating these beautiful learning spaces for us!

A new chapter begins, rooted in a beautiful legacy. ✨

For as long as I can remembe since I was six years old Bharatanatyam has been the rhythm of my soul. I have been incredibly blessed to learn under the wings of my beloved Guru Sandhya Dharma, and today, I am deeply honored to continue seeking guidance and growing under @poonamgokhale Tai. To be a disciple of two of the most graceful dancers and extraordinary gurus is a privilege I hold close to my heart.

To me, dance is not just movement; it makes me feel truly alive. It is a powerful channel that transforms every emotion and energy into vivid expressions and forms.

As I take this next step in my journey, my dream is to carry my Gurus’ lineage forward. I want to teach the younger generation the true beauty of classical dance and the profound respect it deserves. Bharatanatyam is so much more than an art form it is a sacred tradition and culture built on high values, principles, and a deep sense of respect. I can’t wait to share this beautiful heritage with young minds. 🌸🙏
