We will always represent what we rely on. How do we represent Jesus Christ well? Through dependency. When the Lord gets ahold of you, your community begins to change because you begin to change. You become a conduit for God to work in the lives around you. As Teresa Avila once said, “Christ has no body now on earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours.” You are the temple of His Spirit where He not only dwells but produces fruit that you bear! You were called to live within community, within His body united to Christ and Church. This Wednesday is our first Wednesday Night back from 6:30pm-8pm where we will be diving deep into Scripture, Doctrine and Spiritual Practices as a community. We strongly encourage you to not miss out on this time to invest in your spiritual formation as a disciple to Jesus. This is a time for your whole family to grow in the Lord. How many times have you said “I forgive them!” But then you want justice to happen right now. We don’t get instant gratification when it comes to forgiveness, but that doesn’t mean we can hold off on giving it. Marcel gave an awesome message this past Sunday on Forgiveness. He talks through the nuances involved when it comes to biblical reconciliation and boundaries when we do forgive. Raise them up in the way they should go. 🙌🏻 American Culture is showing you a way of prioritization for how you raise your kids. We are needing to face the reality that what we want to make room for requires removing the clutter that's stealing space from what is most important. Discipleship is intentional, it requires our time and our sacrifice. It always has evidence attached to it. It will be God that grows the fruit in your children but you are playing a significant role in tending the field by being the keeping of their schedule, of the spiritual temperature of your home. And the good news is you are capable! It’ll take going against the grain of culture but oh is the reward worth the sacrifice🔥 One of the biggest competitors for the young families time and energy today in America is sports. We live in a day that rec teams don’t prioritize avoiding practices or games on Sundays or Wednesdays anymore. There is not a prioritization in culture for Christian fellowship like there was 30 years ago. Now this doesn’t mean we throw up our hands and say, “well this is just how it goes.” Advocate for children to be in church. If enough parents rally’d behind the value of having children in church- schedules would change— but even if they didn’t you are the keeper of your calendar, not a team. Sports are fine— more than fine, they’re a good thing! We learn so many great skills and character building from sports. But like any good thing, if it is placed higher than the best thing, it becomes a problem in our lives. When the good things God’s given us replace Christ and His ways, they become an idol. We begin to value the gifts God’s given us over the giver of the gifts.
