Swipe to see each bill I designed, front & back

Researching for this project consisted of comparing other nations' currency in terms of composition, imagery, accessibility, & even educational content. I was excited to imagine better ways to represent the American people & after extensive research, I decided on showcasing the 7 largest Native American nations on the 7 bills I was designing for. The 7 Native American nations showcased are: Cherokee, Navajo, Choctaw, Chippewa, Sioux, Apache, & Blackfeet.

On the fronts of the bills, a tribe is named along with its area of origin. On each bill is an image of a landscape within the area of the tribe’s origin. Other elements on the front are the serial number, U.S. seal, & the dollar amount the bill is worth. On the backs of the bills are the serial number, more seals, signatures from the treasury, & the amount the bill is worth in the language of the tribe represented on the bill.

*these are not real currency & only a concept design

Modular type is an alphabet constructed out of a set group of pieces. For this project, I explored many different types of shapes that I could utilize to build an alphabet, including geometric shapes. I decided on using the shapes above because they seemed to offer a little bit of everything: weight, movement, & of course flow.

Flowy is the name of the modular type I designed, & the poster above showcases the full lowercase alphabet, the numbers 1-0, & an ampersand.
