What if we could make vibration visible and our response to it measurable?

The Code of Water Project explores the intersection of water, sound, cymatics and human perception, combining hydroacoustic recordings with immersive environments, synchronized light and EEG.

From sounds hidden beneath the surface to the geometries created by vibration, the project investigates how phenomena we cannot normally see can be translated into sound, pattern, light and data.

Water becomes a medium through which we explore a deeper question:

What can we discover when we learn to listen, observe and measure differently?

A journey at the intersection of art, science and consciousness begins here.

Perhaps the greatest threat to the ocean doesn’t come from the sea.
It comes from us.

We have transformed an ecosystem essential to life into a place that carries the traces of our habits: plastic, waste, noise, pollution.

And what we leave in the water eventually returns to the system we are part of.

@unoceandecade reminds us that protecting water and the oceans is not separate from our own future: the health of ecosystems and human health are part of the same balance.

But protection also requires a shift in perspective.

To stop seeing water simply as something to use, and begin seeing it as an environment to know, respect and understand.

This is where The Code of Water Project begins.

With a question:

Can we change our relationship with water by first learning how to listen to it?

Because perhaps the first step toward protecting something is learning to feel its presence again.

From protection to perception.
From perception to listening.

The next chapter begins here: with sound. #climateaction taken in Oceans by @thecodeofwaterproject

When sound becomes form.

In the Shipibo-Conibo tradition, ícaros are sacred songs through which knowledge, visions, and healing practices are passed down from generation to generation.

For the Shipibo, sound and image are deeply interconnected: what is sung can be perceived as a pattern, and what is seen can become a song.

The geometric patterns of Kené can be understood as a form of visible music a song made into form.

In this video by @adriancapresi the song is explored through cymatics, where sound vibrations interact with a physical medium, creating visible geometric patterns.

Two languages meet:
one ancestral, one experimental.

Sound organizes matter.
Vibration becomes form.
The invisible leaves a visible trace.

And somewhere between what we can measure and what ancient cultures have perceived for centuries, a question emerges:

What if form is simply vibration made visible? #cymatics taken in icaros by @thecodeofwaterproject

Some encounters seem to happen exactly when they are meant to.

As a child, I experienced water dowsing as a game. It remained only a memory, one to which I attached no particular meaning.

Many years later, during a profound journey of personal awakening and self-awareness, that memory resurfaced. It inspired me to explore more deeply the relationship between human beings, water, and the landscape.

That path led me to meet Dino, a Sardinian dowser with more than sixty years of experience and over 450 wells located throughout his lifetime.

Our meeting was never about proving a theory. It was about documenting a body of knowledge that belongs to the cultural memory of landscapes and rural communities in Sardinia.

For some, dowsing is a traditional practice. For others, it is empirical knowledge passed down through generations. For still others, it remains an experience that defies explanation. The Code of Water project does not seek to validate or disprove any of these perspectives.

Instead, it chooses to listen.

Because every local tradition, every inherited gesture, and every story reveals something about the relationship between people and water across centuries.

These photographs capture the moment when a personal journey meets a collective research project.

On one side, a man who has devoted his life to finding water.

On the other, an interdisciplinary project that brings together art, anthropology, cultural heritage, and landscape research to build the Sacred Water Atlas an international platform dedicated to exploring the visible and invisible memories of water.

To listen to water is also to listen to those who have learned to live with it.

What if sacred architecture was designed not only to be seen, but also to be heard?
Nuragic sacred wells seem to preserve a dialogue between water, stone, and vibration one that still invites reflection today.
Physics shows us how sound can shape matter. Neuroscience explores how environments influence perception. Ancient civilizations may have understood these relationships through careful observation and lived experience.
This is not proof of the sacred, but an invitation to explore the meeting point between archaeology, science, and tradition. #water#frequencies#cymatics#art#soundhealing taken in Pozzo Sacro di Santa Cristina by @thecodeofwaterproject

WE ARE MADE OF WATER.

Yet we act as if it were endless.

A child’s body is nearly 80% water.
Life itself depends on it.

And yet, only 0.6% of all the water on Earth is available for human use.

While some waste it,
nearly 1 billion people still lack access to safe drinking water.

By 2050, global water demand could rise by 30%.

Water is no longer just an environmental issue.

It is an economic issue.
A social issue.
A geopolitical issue.

This is why water is being called the new gold.

Not because it is valuable.

Because it is becoming scarce.

The question is not how much water we have.

The question is:

How much longer can we afford to take it for granted?
