New YouTube video out! (link to my YouTube is in my profile) So I haven't really used page builders, except for very briefly to help a friend many years ago. But I'm usually all about writing beautiful bespoke code 😜 But I saw a video recently on a page builder called @framer, and it actually looked kinda cool. I was curious, so I decided to test it out, and tried building a Frontend Mentor design with it. This video was not sponsored by Framer, but was just my experience using it, as well as my thoughts on it as a web developer. by @thecodercoder

Working on an upcoming YouTube video! It's going to be about using a drag-n-drop page builder to build a website, and seeing what that experience is like, and sharing my thoughts on whether it's worth using versus custom HTML/CSS. It was an interesting topic to try out, since I don't usually use tools like that. The video has taken a lot longer than I originally anticipated, but I think it'll be worth it. What do you think about page builder tools? by @thecodercoder

Happy New Year! Hope your 2024 is getting off to a good start. My 5 year old laptop was starting to really struggle, especially when recording screen casts, so I decided to splurge and get a new PC 🙈 But I'm seriously so glad I did, because this new one is sooo fast!!!! Also, as a huge fan of taro boba tea (my absolute favorite flavor) this thing is incredibly cute! It's a limited edition made by @ironsidecomputers-- NOT sponsored at all, I bought it myself. I'm really loving it so far 🧋 by @thecodercoder

Hey folks! Working on my next video, building a Frontend Mentor challenge. This one should be pretty fun-- it deals with some interesting design problems: adding a curved shape to the bottom of the hero section, using position: absolute to overlap elements, then using CSS grid to overlap elements, and then the usual responsive layout things. Hoping to finish recording today, then edit this week before the holidays! What are you all working on this week? #webdevelopment #learntocode #coding #codinglife #workfromhome by @thecodercoder

I haven't used many shortcuts other than Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V 😅 But I recently looked into what other shortcuts are out there and I learned a lot of really cool ones! Some of them have been huge time-savers and I've been using them every time I open up VS Code now. Hey folks! If you haven't seen yet, my course, Responsive Design for Beginners, is LIVE! (Linked up in my profile ⬆️) It's only halfway done, but I wanted to give people the chance to get it early if they want. So I'm running an Early Access sale for a week or so at a 40% discount. Then I'm going to close the sale so you won't be able to buy it anymore until I'm completely done, probably the summer of 2024. I currently have 22 hours of course material complete (the total will be around 38-40 hours), and you'll be able to build the beginner level website from a Figma design. And I have an exclusive Discord server that you can use to get support if you get stuck on anything. It *is* a premium priced course, but as I said it's currently on a discount, and I also have PPP pricing if you live in a country with lower purchasing power than the US. You can find out more about the course, on my website, linked up in my profile. And feel free to comment with any questions you might have about it! #webdevelopment #coding #codinglife #learntocode #css #html by @thecodercoder

Hey folks! So it's been quite a while, but I wanted to let you all know that the course that I've been working on for... a *very* long time is actually, finally, launching on Black Friday! Yes, I know, I can't believe it either 🤣 . It's called Responsive Design for Beginners, and in it I'll teach you how to build a front-end website from a Figma design using HTML, SCSS, and a little JS. . I worked as a web developer in marketing and advertising for 8 years, and a lot of it was spent doing this kind of work. As a self-taught dev, I had to learn a lot of things on my own and with the help of other, more experienced developers who mentored me. I struggled a LOT fighting with CSS, to try to get it to do what I wanted. . But after working in the industry, I did learn how to code efficiently and gained a lot of confidence in being able to build virtually anything that a designer could throw at me. . Responsive Design for Beginners is the course that I wish I had starting out. I share with you how to set up your project and organize your Sass files, and I cover a lot of the common pitfalls with CSS that make you bang your head against the keyboard. The goal of this course is to give you the skills that you can take to any future project, so that you don't have to be scared of CSS anymore. . If you're interested, you can sign up to get emailed when it goes live. Link is in my profile. (I'll also post here when it's live, if you don't want to get emails) Hope to see you in the course! by @thecodercoder
