Comment “link” or “5 seconds” for a tool that has truly transformed the way I approach hard habits.

Morning routines be sacred around here.

I know what it’s like to feel sleep deprived with littles and how impossibly hard it can feel to get up extra early in the mornings before they do.

But I also know how hard it is to go throughout the day feeling sluggish.
I know how hard it feels like I haven’t accomplished the things I wanted to do at the end of the day, like my one goal to just move my body.
I know how hard it is to feel like I’m in an identity fog because I didn’t carve out time for myself.

I know that kind of hard. And if I were to chose between them, I’d choose the hard where waking up early is the hardest part and feeling like the best version of me is the outcome.

Check out Mel Robbin’s “5,4,3,2,1” method for helping you not snooze on the alarm clock or to crush any hard thing you’ve been avoiding.

How I make coffee when traveling!

Comment COFFEE for all the goods.

As a former coffee blogger and former coffee sales person for a green coffee importing & exporting coffee and a forever coffee snob, GOOD coffee is vital to me.

The recipe✨
Grind size: 9 (for this grinder)
Weigh out your beans: 18-20g
Boil water: 205degrees

Rinse out filter paper
“Charge your mug” - pour hot water into your mug to preheat it while you make the coffee

Place aeropress chamber with filter attached over your coffee mug
Pour coffee into aeropress chamber
Pour water into chamber up to #4
Stir N,S,E,W
Let sit for 2 minutes with plunger suctioned at top to create vacuum
Take off plunger and stir again
Plunge
Enjoy!

With 3 kids, I’ve got to travel light in every category and that includes coffee gear. This setup is fool proof and IMO it’s hard to mess up your coffee with. The hardest part may be getting your grind size. For this particularly grinder I am using a grind size of 9. But it of course also depends on your coffee.

Coffee: BOCANEGRA coffee roasters from @rollingwavescr ⭐️ | a honey processed coffee from the Monteverde coffee region in Costa Rica

Comment COFFEE for links to all of my travel coffee gear ☕️🤓

more on our family trip to Costa Rica! 🇨🇷 pura vida 🌺

Ps. The beauty of an Aeropress is that you can make it as simple or as complicated as you like. This is a good starter recipe. Ps. There is now an XL size so you can make codes for two in one go. Everything linked in my profile. Cheers.

It’s my birthday today. 🎈

The biggest gift I can give myself this year is clarity — and the courage to stop splitting myself in two.

Many of you found me through The Coffee Nomad. That chapter was everything to me. I felt limitless, and I lived like it.

Then I became a mom. And somewhere along the way I started to shrink — quietly choosing which version of myself got to show up. The coffee world Erica, or the mom Erica. The fitness instructor, or the woman who was exhausted and figuring it out.

Three kids later, I finally understand: you don’t have to choose. And shrinking yourself doesn’t make you a better mom — it actually gets in the way of it.

I’m done hanging onto one chapter of myself. The whole story is more interesting anyway. 😉

If you’re here for coffee, fitness, and the honest version of what this life actually looks like — come find me at @move.with.erica.

Thank you for being part of this. 🤍

I’m a SoCal native now living in charlotte, nc going on nearly 9 years now and I sure do miss a lot about home but these mountains are just a huge plus to living here and bring such a peace and joy every time we visit. And with our girls getting bigger, it’s so exciting to watch them create these memories that I can’t help but think will be core memories.

Some details from our weekend trip:
- We stayed in an Airbnb (dm me and happy to share) in Bakersville, NC with the most stunning views (about an hour Northeast of Asheville)
- we had an amazing lunch overlooking the mountains with green hills for the girls to run around at the Chalet Restaurant at the Little Switzerland Inn.
- on our way back to charlotte we stopped at @applehillorchardnc in Morganton and it’s the best apple picking orchard we have ever been too!
- we packed up and enjoyed our neighborhood’s @summitcoffee for morning lattes and cortados
- our s’mores lasted no more than 10 minutes as we all freaked each other out with a non-confirmed bear sighting. The girls talked about bears the rest of the weekend and I’m sure they are sharing campfire tales at school today.

Ps. I am looking to upgrade our home espresso machine with so many direct to consumer ones in the market now, it’s not nearly the same as it was 10 years ago (which is about how long I’ve had this bad boy). Anyway, share in the comments below on any recs!

Went to a dear friend’s wedding in Wrightsville this past Friday. I took up the few hours I had to use as some much needed reflection time 🙏🏽☕️📝

1. I stumbled upon this diagram in my new planner and it struck me as so incredibly useful in my current chapter in life as I try to envision what’s next for me. With baby #3 on the way I feel incredibly restless; I feel restless in my thoughts in what I want to do next but what is actually feasible in the hours of my day. But coming back to re-aligning myself on what are my priorities, passions and strengths is such a simple and yet practical exercise on how to move forward when feeling stuck.

2. visiting @driftcoffee.kitchen while on my solo trip for this short reflection time and appreciated all the nods to Aussie coffee culture (even the cortado being rung up as a “magic) 😉 haven’t seen that since living in Melbourne

3. Aussies also have the best breakfast food. I hope to recreate this dish + sauce at home soon. Swoon.

4. Just being near the ocean brings me such joy and peace. So thankful this weekend brought me to it.

5. The Spanish moss trees in the south never not seem romantic to me.

6. One of my dearest friends married the love of her life on the day of love 🫶

7. A still shot with some type of hanging lines hung from the hotel

8. My husband had to solo parent without coffee in the morning but I returned with some tasty reserves @blackwhitecafenc @driftcoffee.kitchen 🤤

9. My daughter loves, loves to paint and art and this winter has been lots of it

10. An abstract piece my daughter claims is a “Valentines washing machine” her fav. Medium at the moment is Glitter paint

11. A teacher recommended “draw with me” YouTube channels for toddlers/kids and my daughter is a big fan. Recommend the same for other art kiddos!

12. As we feel spring at our fingertips I came across some spring arts and crafts and this particular lion one is on my list ✨

Should be called cali girl surviving another mild winter☀️☀️ why I run during pregnancy:
I was comfortable running before and so I stick to it. I don’t do anything crazy. Still do my treadmill interval runs & short runs. But these outdoor runs are REALLY for my mental health 😅 especially when I didn’t get my early workout in and the afternoon sillies set in with my girls. Here’s a couple scientific reasons that - once cleared with your OB - running is a GIFT:
	1.	Improved Mood: Running releases endorphins, which help reduce stress and improve mood.
	2.	Increased Energy Levels: Staying active can combat pregnancy fatigue by boosting overall energy.
	3.	Weight Management: Regular exercise helps manage healthy weight gain during pregnancy.
	4.	Better Sleep: Running may help improve sleep quality, which can be challenging during pregnancy.
	5.	Cardiovascular Health: Maintaining cardiovascular fitness benefits both mother and baby.
	6.	Easier Labor and Recovery: ✨✨Staying active can lead to improved stamina and strength for labor and faster postpartum recovery.
	7.	Reduced Pregnancy Discomfort: Running (within safe limits) can alleviate common issues such as back pain and bloating.

And # 8. You can feel like a bad ass 💥

Lmk if you want some running tips while carrying a - currently an “avocado” in ma’ belly 🤰

New small, cozy cafè @babaloocoffeeclub opens up in south end!

I was lucky to have a quick early Saturday morning getaway to swing by the grand opening. My first impression were all the different textures in one small space. Dark stucco walls hug the space while the floor showcases a lime green tile and lighting fixtures bring you to Tulum. When I got to the counter, I felt a warmth and excitement and a sense of pride from those serving behind the counter but also friends and family that came to support the cafes opening.

While they were currently serving La Colombe coffee, it is my understanding they intend to bring in Colombian coffee as well.

I enjoyed my cortado but can’t wait to try a Freddo once the weather inspires me to do so. 🌧️🌧️

Until then, this is a great place to meet up with a friend and have a quick bite but seating is limited. But no matter how quick your visit here is, the experience that can feel like an escape from the rest of charlotte, is worth it. ✨

The people at FLASK @getflask by ethoz were kind enough to send me this product and here is my honest review.

Spoiler: I’ve been using it every morning since trying it out.

Yall know I love my aeropress and this brews like one with some slight differences - not to mention it also brews TEA for my tea lovers out there.

This honestly would make a great coffee gift because it’s unique and most likely not already sitting on your fellow coffee aficionado’s home coffee bar.

Comment FLASK or LINK and I’ll DM you the link and a 15% off promo code. ✨

Let me know if you enjoyed this video and want to see more vids like these. Cheers 🤙🏽

This weekend we had a gentle snow day and there’s something about slowing down and feeling no pressure to get out and to do all of the things. We tried to keep the tv off as much as possible, spoil ourselves with treats and hot cocoa and be okay in our messy but slow house where it seemed every kind of bird visited our window. It was the recharge needed before the hustle and bustle of a typical Monday. by @thecoffeenomad

I feel like I can do anything! … for about 30 minutes. But I’ll take it. 😅

Things I’ve been sticking to first trimester:

- moving my body as much as I can: whether it’s a 5:30am workout class or a quick 20 minute morning workout 😮‍💨
- drinking more water than my normal (it’s hard tho!)
- buying emotional support coffee (I’m guilty 👩🏻‍⚖️.) just holding it makes me feel more powerful
- giving myself grace in other areas

Things I dropped 1st trimester
- cooking every night; I was so nauseos that it was a full blown effort to just stand and cook (and nothing sounded motivating enough for me to cook) I did a lot more Trader Joe’s pizza nights, frozen meals or once a week takeout.
- eating clean. Listen I TRIED. But all I could stomach was crackers and my toddler’s Mac n cheese. But it’s not the end of the world. Now in my second, I’m craving all the salads and fruits!
- dropping most of my 5:30am workout classes and switching them out for 20 minute workouts at home. This was so hard for me but I had to be realistic of the rest my body was needing.

Things I’m still struggling with:
- keeping the house super tidy
- keeping up with laundry
- managing my emotions with my hormones and my 4yo who is my karma 😅
- planning ahead for the week!
- (okay, I struggle with these things pre-pregnancy too)

It’s all a balance. When I start to feel like I’m coming up short, I remember to give myself grace and remember this is all temporary. And I say, “I’m blessed. I’m safe.” Because sometimes the tiniest things trip our brain into “fight or flight” action and we feel it in our entire body.

So… anyone else taking deep breaths with me in this season of life?

Will be sharing new tools on combating my areas I want to improve on as well - stay tuned! #coffeemama #cortadomama #toddlerlife #specialtycoffee #homebarista #lifeaserica #movewitherica #coffeeshopvibes #coffeepeople #mamaworkouts #pregnancy #momof3 #cortado #brevillebaristaexpress by @thecoffeenomad

Allow me to introduce fitness Erica. 💪🏽

Years ago I started teaching indoor cycling or spin classes.
I was then recruited to be a coach at BARRY’S (formerly Barry’s Bootcamp)
And then I got pregnant and realized, I have no idea how to train as a pregnant person and became prenatal/postnatal fitness certified.
Which honestly is just a class that should be provided to all expecting mamas because the knowledge is so useful for every stage of motherhood.

But my favorite phrase that I would tell students is that we train to be strong during pregnancy; You wouldn’t want to be your weakest at your heaviest. That’s where injuries happen, and that’s when you just start to feel like absolute 💩.

And in my third time around of doing this thing, I’m so thankful to have this mindset to keep up with my other two Littles.

Hope to share more fitness routines, practical tips and perspectives on how to actually get motivated and get it done as a busy, exhausted mama 😅 (hint: it’s not just the coffee).
