Still using my Mill Food Recycler over 1 year later… and that honestly says everything.

It’s not perfect—but it is easy. And that’s why it stuck.

Especially for:
✔️ Meat & dairy
✔️ Cooked food
✔️ Moldy scraps
✔️ Citrus (my worms say no thanks 😅)

If you want the full honest review (wear & tear included), it’s live now.

Or… just know this: I’m not getting rid of it anytime soon ♻️

Comment MILL and I’ll send you the link to the full 1 year update review + the link to the current Mill discounts. by @thecompostculture

I had a morning off from work and this was how I spent it!

I refreshed my orchids (love purchasing them from Trader Joe’s) and moved my old ones to trees in the backyard.

Then I grabbed some finished compost from my Subpod worm bin to add to my herbs.

I finished up the morning with a little Food Waste Friday fridge clean up and put some forgotten leftovers in my @mill food recycler. Almost two years into using it and it is still my all time favorite electric food recycler.

Let me know if you’re interested in electric food recycling because I’ve tested nearly all of them! I’d love to help you pick one that works well for you. taken in Naples, Florida by @thecompostculture

Back for another Food Waste Friday hack! 🙌 Instead of pouring cooking water down the drain, I use it to water my plants. 🌱💧 It’s an easy way to reduce kitchen waste and give my garden a little boost.

Yes, you can reuse some cooking water for things like soups or grains—but sometimes my water from steaming veggies has a particular flavor that I don’t want in my grains. This way, nothing goes to waste!

👉 Do you save your cooking water or let it go down the drain?

I’m just a girl, standing in front of the internet, asking her audience to consider composting their food waste.

Once you get in the habit, it’s so easy. And the end product is healthy soil! Definitely beats sending nutrients from food to a landfill where it can’t decompose.

Here are my favorite compost tools right now:

♻️ @subpod I have two!
🪱 red wigglers that I purchased from our local pet supply store- these guys break down the food in my Subpod
♻️ @mill for cooked food and any acidic foods that my worms can’t eat like citrus and coffee grounds

Do you have any questions about reducing your food waste?

No airports. No rock mines. No prisons. Only Everglades.

This week, Max and I joined a peaceful protest against what’s being called Alligator Alcatraz — a proposed detention camp right in the heart of the Everglades.

Here’s why this matters to all Floridians (no matter your politics- nature is nonpartisan):

✅ The Everglades act as a sponge, protecting us from hurricanes & floods
✅ They filter the drinking water millions of us rely on every day
✅ This land belongs to all of us and is supposed to be protected, not cleared for a detention center that could easily be built somewhere else.

The state says it’s “temporary,” but we know that the impact of 5,000 people “camping” in the Everglades threatens wildlife, water quality, and hurricane safety forever.

📍 We actually hiked with sixth graders further into the swamp than the spot where they want to build this camp. The idea that it’s “too dangerous” to escape isn’t logical — if kids can walk there safely, so can adults.

Here’s how you can help:
✅ Go to the link in my bio to send a message to Governor DeSantis & AG James Uthmeier — it takes less than a minute
✅ Share this post or tag a friend who lives in Florida
✅ Keep talking about why the Everglades matter — for clean water, storm protection, and future generations

No matter where you stand politically, this is a nonpartisan issue- we all want clean water and safe communities. Let’s keep the Everglades wild and free. 🌾🪶

Feel free to ask me questions! If you need a script for texting or emailing friends, I have one for you!

Here’s a little personal story about food waste and the power of community!

Just a reminder that sending food to a landfill to make greenhouse gasses should always be the last resort. We should normalize sharing food with our neighbors. I’m always grateful to take someone’s surplus. And I’m not shy about offering when I have extra.

Do you do this in your neighborhood too? by @thecompostculture

How did I spend my afternoon? Oh, you know, just casually hanging out with every electric food recycler on the market. 🤷‍♀️ One company once told me they’re pretty sure I’m the only person who actually owns them all—and honestly, they’re not wrong. 🫣

I love that there are a million and one ways to make money on the internet (even without selling foot fetish photos). I am still amazed that I’m able to make money by sharing reviews on electric food recyclers!

It’s random, but I love this part of my blogging career. Once a year, I dive into the world of compost, food recycling, and easy kitchen compost solutions, test all my recyclers again, and share updated reviews on @thecompostculture. Stay tuned—new review coming soon to the Compost Culture YouTube channel!

Spoiler alert: the Mill is still my fave. 😍 It’s chic, easy for guests to use, and makes learning how to compost feel seamless and stylish. DM me if you’re interested in learning more!

Food Waste Friday Tip: Don’t toss that leftover bread! Save it for something delicious like breakfast casserole bites! 🥖🍳

This week, I used the leftover bread from my son’s homemade uncrustables and turned it into an easy breakfast casserole. I stored the scraps in a bag and once it was full, it was casserole time! 🙌

Here are a few tips to make the most of your leftover bread:

1️⃣ If it takes you a while to get enough bread scraps, freeze any leftover bread in a freezer bag. You can keep adding to it until you have enough for your favorite recipe.
2️⃣ Add other ingredients that need to be used up, like cheese, veggies, or even deli meat. They’re perfect casserole add-ins!
3️⃣ Make a double batch and freeze half for a quick and easy breakfast later. 🍽️

Reduce food waste, save money, and enjoy something homemade! 💚 Have you tried making a casserole from leftover bread before? Let me know in the comments!

Day 3 update! 🚨

So far I’ve really enjoyed using the @mill. I can honestly say that out of all the electric composters I’ve reviewed (8 total), this has been the easiest one for my family to use. ♻️

I love the look. And I really love how user friendly it is for the kids. I imagine it will be easier for guests too!

Anyway, no affiliate link to share here yet🔗! I’ll wait to share that once I’m completely finished with my review.

In the meantime if you want more information, comment INFO and I’ll send you a DM! by @thecompostculture
