I have no clue how to properly articulate how incredibly grateful and blessed I feel to have been able to experience this incredible journey, culminating in one of the most unforgettable nights of my life.

A year ago I was recovering from my hysterectomy, exhausted, depressed, extremely anxious, angry at myself and the world and ready to end my life. I took my recovery seriously and decided to take a leap of faith when I joined @championsrisemma last season. I had no clue then what this last year would end up being, the confidence it would instil in me and the community I would be welcomed in to. Yes, I’ve also had a physical transformation but that pales in comparison to everything that’s transformed within. Thank you @eltornadosmalls for pushing me further than I ever thought possible. Thank you @onelungshogun for helping me find joy in BJJ. Thank you @annette_milbers for helping me nourish my body through training. Thank you @jankacoppens for being the fiercest role model there is. Thank you @willmonzonescobedo for enforcing the need for intensity in preparation for fight night. Thank you @derekpauletto for the laughs and introducing me to thunder fists. Thank you @jaretevans for the rolls and answering my endless questions. Thank you @jades.pup.parents for literally everything. Thank you to all my training partners throughout the last two seasons of @championsrisemma there were days you literally kept me alive. Thank you to all my friends and family who supported me through training and beyond without squashing my dreams. Thank you for supporting me on fight night whether in person or through a screen in a different province. Thank you @evelynne2 for lifting your head occasionally throughout my fight and fighting through the last 36 years with me. Thank you @nerp985 for being my hype man, my fight night handler and for all of it, ily. Thank you @p.brar7 for training, for making weight and for getting in the cage with me. 3 days in an off grid Yurt in the BC wilderness with no wifi does wonders for the soul.

No wifi, just nature. 3 days of no alarms, no cell service, no deadlines. Walk, swim, read, cook, eat, chop wood, pop a pimple, fire haze, star gaze, puppy cuddle, sleep.
