Brewtality Smackdown Season 2 โ€“ Official Competition Format Season 2 of Brewtality Smackdown focuses on true brewing skill, sensory awareness, and extraction control. ________________________________________ 1. Equipment & Preparation โ€ข Competitors may use any brewing method. โ€ข Each competitor must bring their entire brewing setup. โ€ข The water used must remain consistent throughout all rounds. โ€ข The organizer will provide: o Official competition coffee beans o Cupping bowls for judging Practice & Brew Time โ€ข Each competitor is given 7 minutes of preparation + practice time using the assigned coffee beans. โ€ข Immediately after practice, the competition round begins. โ€ข Competitors have 5 minutes to brew their final cup for judging. โ€ข No changes to coffee or water are allowed after practice. ________________________________________ 2. Competition Flow โ€ข Each round features 4 competitors, brewing simultaneously using their own equipment. โ€ข All competitors in the same set use the same coffee bean profile. ________________________________________ 3. Judging Criteria & Scoring All cups are judged blind, with no information shared about origin or processing during evaluation. Preliminary to Semi-Final Rounds (12 Points Total) A. Body โ€“ 3 Points Body refers to the strength and texture of the coffee in the mouth. B. Acidity โ€“ 3 Points Acidity is the brightness and liveliness of the coffee. C. Sweetness โ€“ 3 Points Reflects how well sweetness is extracted during brewing. D. Cup Impression โ€“ 3 Points Cup Impression is the overall quality and harmony of the brew. ________________________________________ Final Round (17 Points Total) Finalists are judged on all previous criteria plus: E. Identify the Primary Taste Note โ€“ 5 Points โ€ข Competitors must identify and write down the specific dominant/primary flavor note they perceive (e.g., chocolate, blueberry, coconut, etc.) It must be specific. ________________________________________ 4.
