Did you know that today, October 27th, many people across the world will honor a beautiful tradition that blends thousands of years of history with our love for our furry family members.

In ancient Mesoamerican culture, dogs were revered as sacred spiritual guardians who guided human souls across the rivers of the underworld. Today, this dedicated day allows our pets to cross back first, arriving ahead of the main holiday to enjoy their favorite treats.

Happy Día de los Muertos to our beloved Linus and all the companions who have crossed the rainbow bridge.

We welcome your spirit back home tonight, Linus, with love, bright marigolds and beautiful memories. You are forever in our hearts. 🐾🌼✨

Celebrate your furry loved ones who have crossed with your own dedication!! by @theculinaryrebel

Stanley Cup Final - Game 5 - @canes win in regulation!

Our little 105 crew that stayed till the end was able to take a family photo after the game. We're all planning to try and get tickets together tomorrow for the party on Saturday, so we'll have another night together. Maybe a win together. Erin snagged tickets back to Vegas, so she may be our lifeline to the Cup if It gets hoisted in enemy territory. We want them to come back home, but if they can win it and get it done there, then they should go for it.

Thanks to all the security officers who are in our section, especially Maddy who took our photo and got in it with us tonight! Those guys and gals work their asses off.

This is what hockey is all about. Community. The Family we create when we didn't realize we needed them, who come just at the right time, and stick with you.

Let's go Canes! Bring that Cup home!!! by @theculinaryrebel

Stanley Cup Final - Game 4 - Las Vegas, NV - Paradise City

A whirlwind of sights and sounds. From walking a dilapidated strip sidewalk packed more with houseless population than tourists these days, to being boo'd at after the game by angry Vegas fans... It was a wild evening. The arena certainly puts on a show in a way only Vegas or Broadway could. T-Pain and showgirls outside, drum lines with cheerleaders inside. Coach Chippy rolled into our row. Vegas made us into a flying super natural deity in their opening fight showcasing the knight defeating a symbol of the Hurricanes (at least she looked like she could rip the knight's heart out). The opening announcements featured flames and it was cool to see the bench from a different perspective. ESPN hosts chilled in a floating glass boxed area, and we sat with 105 friend @erin.taking.pics (follow her page for more awesome highlights). The inside of the concourse is dark and cavernous. Jimmy O was the "siren" sounder for the 3rd period. We enjoyed a win. Then we sped out to Robertos for our last Vegas snacks and snagged these wild 24 hour donuts - Pinkbox - that didn't exist when we lived there. Our last evening staring at our old works (MGM and Mandalay respectfully)... Early up at the airport again to race against time zones back to Raleigh, but a parting phrase from the UNLV ad..."Rebels Make It Happen"...Yes, we absolutely do!

We made it... It took almost two decades and a hockey team to get us back to Vegas. Driving around has been so much fun. It feels weird seeing our old home, but just like everything, times changes and the world moves on, and so did the place we lived...big time!

You know what didn't change? Some of my favorite people. They both have grown up so much, both look younger and more youthful than we did in college, and both are absolutely thriving in their careers. BUT... Their awesome personalities, humor, kindness and love haven't changed a bit!!

@madein81 and @kaoriscott you all are so sweet to take time out of your evenings for hugs and chats. Seriously beautiful people, who I am so proud to call my sisters. I've missed both of you so much. From dinner to late night snacks to amazing pastries, you both made this trip even more exciting.

We spent the afternoon and evening just being "back home". This morning we got pampered with beautiful strips views and sunshine, breakfast in the suite, a little bit of work and then out and about to see all the new developments. Then we had to get In n Out, because why not. In a couple hours we'll head over to the stadium for the game (Go CANES!), and later were going to find late night Robertos... The last piece of Vegas we need to explore. 😂

Tomorrow we return back to normal. Back to the real world. ...and hopefully by Thursday night's game, we'll be discussing heading to a Game 7.

The final seconds of the 5th game of the Eastern Conference Finals - sending Carolina into the history books in multiple ways over these playoff games and sealing their fate to the Stanley Cup Finals.

What Hockey Means To Me...

Every year I'm thankful we took the opportunity in 2023 to become season ticket members. Our amazing rep at the time who became a friend and has now moved to fabulous things, was one of the first people we met in North Carolina. She welcomed us into the Carolina Hurricanes family with open arms. We have had amazing opportunities to be present in our community, donate to great causes, and build friendships with our section seat mates.

The coolest part about this year though is that we've all been in this together. Not just a whole season of watching our team fight every game, and supporting the players we love. Going to games became more than that. As a small section right behind the bench, we supported each other like family in hard times, checking in on each other. We celebrated each other - new job promotions, birthdays, challenges, wins. We met new family members that swapped tickets with someone or tagged along for a game. We spent time in intermissions together - joking around, chatting and talking and just being a little urban family. Some of my favorite people have come from being present in these moments. We're there to watch hockey, but in the end, we've gained so much more.

And now... We'll cheer and celebrate our team through the last big battles of the season together. That's what hockey is all about. Win or lose, we love our team and now we have each other. We have a hockey family. That's what it means to be a fan in North Carolina.

There's a memory somewhere deep down inside that pops up when I get handed a DoubleTree cookie. When we were little, Dad went on a work trip, and he came back with a mint green tin that had a little white pattern around the outside. Inside was a stack of chocolate chip cookies. He'd brought them back for Mom because they had walnuts in them and she liked them too. The cookies got eaten, and the tin was washed and dried, and I used that tin for a couple years for all sorts of treasures. At some point it became a little tin of tiny stamps, and another year it had beads in it. Somewhere along the way the little tin got cleaned out and put in a box of other tins and tumblers, that got sold in one of Mom's everything must go garage sales out on Barnett Street. ...and now when they hand me a hot fresh cookie at check-in, I just think of Dad and the little tin of cookies cause they were his favorites that he brought home to mom who loved them too. #doubletreecookies @doubletree #memories by @theculinaryrebel

Sometimes the hardest moments come at the weirdest times. I will fully admit I'm a procrastinator. I put the pro in it sometimes. The iris didn't care that I procrastinated yet again about getting them planted or moved. I did though. My heart always sinks worrying about if they'll bloom again, every time we move and I replant them. They're my great grandmas, but really they're probably her great grandmas before her. My Dad helped save bulbs from her farm in Missouri, along with the Colonel. We had them under the trees at my childhood home and my Dad saved bulbs and brought them to our backyard of the house in Lakeview as a teenager. When I moved back to KS in 2014 and bought my first house in 2016, here came Dad to plant iris all around the property. They bloomed the next year with passion. In fact, they bloomed so well we had to split them and move some around. In the cold pitch of October 2022 when we realized we might be moving, I had to dig to save the bulbs. See Dad had forgotten to take bulbs to his new house during their move, so I was the last keeper of the iris. There we were on a crisp morning with half a dozen plastic pots, repotting iris, crossing our fingers it would work. I left two pots with my Dad to plant in his yard, which he did...and in January of that year, 4 pots of 4 bulb clusters each, incubating in the soil, moved across the country to NC. That spring, we planted them in the front yard where an animal ate them, and in a raised bed, where they flourished! Last summer, while our house was up for sale the first time. I transplanted to the new house. This week was the first bloom. Finally. ...and today, I thought about Dad and the iris. He told me to not wait to do the things I dream of and not stop telling people I love them, because there will come a time when it could all end. So today in my procrastination of everything, I'm reminded to keep pushing myself to dream of what's next and send you all love.

Today's grief: "You'd think I'd get better at this, but I'm not" ... And, "I just needed to send this picture to you today, but I couldn't" by @theculinaryrebel

How did we get here... It's December already. The house is slowly being decorated with all of the glittery shiny pretty things that we've picked up over the years and some new to us items I've found shopping for vintage cookware. Like the baby Mosser trees that fit perfect with the ribbon trees. The fire is on, because it's the south and we don't like turning the heater on around here, but the last couple days have warranted a little more heater action at night. The days are getting shorter, the nights deeper and the back screened in porch makes a good after dinner hot toddy spot with a blanket and twinkle lights on the outdoor lounger. It's okay to breathe and take a break in the hustle and bustle. It's alright to be silent in the still of the cool evenings or pensive in the light of a crisp morning. I tell myself daily to enjoy the rush, enjoy the laughter, but most of all enjoy the quiet moments too, as none of it will last as long as we like and we don't realize how special any of those are until they're gone. Happy December.

This wild ragtag group of people sit in 105 with us. This is only half of our trouble makers behind the bench, but we love em, and call them our own. Hockey season is back in action, with a couple weeks reprieve as we all wander our ways to the state fair to have fun, and then welcome the boys home after road games with a couple games just before Halloween. As @mattious05 said as we sat down in our seats after our photos and hugs, catching up with everyone, "It's good to be home". That it is friend, that it is. #hurricanesfamily #carolinahurricanes #STM @erin.taking.pics @roxye11 (Thanks Rox for taking the photo, it's kickass) by @theculinaryrebel

I've never wanted to unwrap something so bad, and yet not unwrap it, all at the same time because it's so perfect. This gorgeous woman is such an inspiration and I just know with all of the care she's expressed about her fragrance that it's going to be beautiful. The packaging and wrapping are just divine. @yvonnelafleur_ #fragrances #womensfragrance #fashion #neworleans #beaneworleanianwhereveryouare by @theculinaryrebel

The Eastern bluebirds have been mean mugging us this week. I'm not sure if it's because they're being attacked by the cardinals while they're trying to eat, or if they prefer different seeds, but as the summer starts to push in, getting the feeder set up at the new house was important. #meanmug #birdfeeder #birdbuddy #easternbluebirds by @theculinaryrebel
