On December 19th, undercover bounty hunters chased a father and his 3 children, leading to a car crash. Since then the mother has supported her family alone. It has been extremely difficult for her to find a job/work that is secure and consistent. All donations will cover rent, food, and her son’s uniform for the new school year. Thank you.

THIS WEDNESDAY 7/22, join us for a special screening of the short documentary “unlivable oasis” followed by a facilitated discussion on various topics, including updates on Pedro and his family, the Oasis Mobile Home Park, and the continued struggles against gentrification, ICE t3rr0r, the climate crisis, and so on.

The documentary follows one story from Oasis Mobile Home Park. It depicts Pedro and his family’s “struggles to find livable housing in the eastern Coachella Valley, one of the hottest regions in the country. Less than 30 miles northwest, more affluent residents cool themselves in shimmering pools and on lush green golf courses. Between these worlds is what’s known as the “climate gap,” a literal gap in temperature and infrastructure, but also a gap in suffering due to the climate crisis.”

We’ll have snacks available for donation. All donations will go towards Pedro and his family’s gofundme!

ESTE MIÉRCOLES 22 de julio, acompáñanos a la proyección del cortometraje documental “Unlivable Oasis,” seguida de un discurso moderado sobre diversos temas, entre ellos las últimas noticias sobre Pedro y su familia, el parque de casas móviles de Oasis y las luchas continuas contra la gentrificación, el terror de ICE, la crisis climática, etc.

El documental narra una historia del parque de casas móviles Oasis. Muestra las dificultades de Pedro y su familia para encontrar una vivienda habitable en el este del Valle de Coachella, una de las regiones más calurosas del país. Herro everyone ❤️‍🩹 Been digesting the last couple weeks and figuring out what my next steps are from here. I left my job because it was a toxic and eventually hostile work environment and I no longer felt safe. The City of Monterey Park set a moratorium temporarily banning data centers in March and passed an ordinance in April to permanently ban data centers, then in June, they SUCCESSFULLY passed the ballot measure to enshrine the PERMANENT BAN on data centers!

A ORDINANCE TO PERMANENTLY BAN DATA CENTERS IS POSSIBLE, and so far it seems every councilmember (including Mayor Figueroa) is for it EXCEPT DENISE DELGADO coachella_councilwoman .

The City plans to discuss an emergency ordinance this week, Wednesday or Thursday (the City HAS NOT confirmed when), to temporarily ban data centers for 45 days.

During those 45 days, WE MUST CONTINUE TO PUSH for an ordinance to permanently ban data centers.

The City will also bring back, as an agenda item, the discussion of terminating its partnership agreement with Stronghold Power sometime in the future.

We’ll keep an eye out and post updates as soon as we gather more information.

‼️Acompáñenos el miércoles 5/27 a las 5pm‼️

La ciudad de Coachella hablará sobre su acuerdo con Stronghold Power.

Aunque se necesita una revisión del acuerdo de abogados externos para poder determinar los problemas para terminar el acuerdo, lo que propone la ciudad por $10k a $25k NO HACE ESO.
La ciudad solo busca revisar el acuerdo para asegurar sea “razonable”. QUE MIERDA ES ESO.

Calipatria, Brawley, y la ciudad de Imperial han tomado medidas para evitar la construction de centros de datos en sus comunidades.

@officialcityofcoachella tiene que terminar el acuerdo AHORA MISMO.
Coachella tiene que implementar una ordenanza para prevenir los centros de datos AHORA MISMO.
