Wrapping up a huge year in China for my first World Tour Race 😆🇨🇳

Really happy with how I rode, and loved getting amongst the action at Tour of Chongming. Proud of all the girls for racing with everything they had, and together as a team 🩵

An absolutely massive thank you to @meridianbluecycling and the staff for such an incredible week. Thank you also for running around getting me sorted on a Shimano spare bike when the creaking I was hearing on Stage One turned out to be more than just a minor problem

Thank you @thecyclistsalliance for the amazing support and guidance throughout this year. Me a year ago even would be shocked to hear that I’m not only comfortable, but confident riding in a WorldTour race. Thank you to @espxmiki @myridemountmaunganui and @buretaphysio for the continued support throughout the ups and downs, it means the absolute world 🫶

Now time for a break before building up for next season!

We welcome the UCI's investment in crash research. Its preliminary findings from men’s and women’s WorldTour events report more frequent and severe injuries among women, and a return to competition that takes twice as long on average.

These findings deserve urgent attention. Understanding what drives them is essential to protecting riders.

We are asking the UCI to:

Publish the full methodology and anonymised supporting data
Investigate differences in team support, racing experience and access to care
Test hypotheses about bone health and technical skills
Involve riders in understanding their lived experience of crashes and recovery

In 2024, TCA asked the UCI to include REDs screening and bone mineral density assessment in mandatory medical examinations for Women’s WorldTeams. Progressing that request could support earlier care and help build the evidence.

Our 2026 survey also highlights why recovery support matters: 54% of Continental respondents reported uncovered medical or physiotherapy costs, compared with 19% of WorldTeam respondents.

Better evidence must lead to better protection.

The UCI Ethics Commission found that Vitiere breached its Code of Ethics, including provisions protecting professional mountain bike rider Isla Short’s physical and mental integrity.

He acted as Isla Short’s de facto manager without the required UCI licence. The Commission confirmed that being unlicensed did not put him beyond its ethics rules. TCA welcomes that finding.

Vitiere received a reprimand and educational measures. Approved training and an appropriate licence are required before any future role managing a team or accompanying riders at UCI events.

But those conditions need to reach the people responsible for enforcing them. Teams and organisers need to know what to check, who can intervene and where to report a possible breach.

TCA is seeking clear answers on:
Who verifies compliance and acts on possible breaches.
How the approved training addresses the conduct found.
How the outcome is communicated to protect riders.
How licences are checked at accreditation, based on the role someone performs.
How complainants receive better communication and support.

Riders who speak up deserve support and confidence that a decision will be put into practice.

Women riders need a direct voice in cycling’s next chapter.

We welcome the direction of the @uci_cycling’s reform plans and are actively seeking TCA’s place in the 9–10 December discussions. Having contributed to the consultation, we’re bringing fresh evidence from our 2026 Rider Survey.

As we prepare our full Impact Report, findings from our 2026 Rider Survey offer an early view of riders’ experiences:

🟪Safer courses: 68% of road riders raised concerns about poor road surfaces, 65% about road furniture and 62% about unsafe final kilometres

“Behind every crash statistic is a rider’s experience. Listening to riders must help shape the decisions that make racing safer.” — Grace Brown, TCA President

🟪Access to care: regular medical screening reaches 90% of WorldTeam respondents, compared with 17% of Continental respondents.

🟪Opportunities to progress: insufficient development races concern 41% of respondents aged 19–22, compared with 20% of those aged 23 and over.

Our full State of the Women’s Professional Peloton 2026 Impact Report arrives in October.

Source: TCA 2026 Rider Survey, 127 responses overall; subgroup bases vary.

🌈 ELITE ROAD WORLD CHAMPION

After an exhilarating race, @demivollering is your new elite World Champion, ahead of @kasianiewiadoma94 and @elisalongob!

Vollering took a less traditional path to the top of professional cycling.

Still working as a florist while racing at club level in 2018, she earned her first professional contract at 21 with Parkhotel Valkenburg. Just a year later, she finished third at Liège-Bastogne-Liège, establishing herself among the best riders in the world.

After two seasons, Vollering stepped up to SD Worx, winning the Tour de France Femmes in 2023. She joined FDJ-SUEZ in 2025 and has continued to build on that success, winning both the Giro d’Italia Women and Tour de France Femmes in 2026.

Her success on the bike is matched by the example she aims to set for the next generation coming through the sport💜

🌈 JUNIOR ROAD WORLD CHAMPION!

Today, 18-year-old Alejandra Neira @aleeneiraa_ became Junior Road World Champion in Montreal, winning a five-rider sprint for Spain.

Neira has spent the past two seasons developing with Baqué Movistar Team. In 2026, she won the first-ever junior women’s Liège-Bastogne-Liège and became Spanish junior road and time trial champion. She recently signed with Movistar through 2029 and will make the step up to WorldTour racing next season.

Results like this are built through access to quality racing, strong development environments and opportunities to progressively step up in level.

Congratulations Alejandra!

The Cyclists' Alliance standing behind riders when it matters.

TCA supported staff and riders of the team in the UCI Ethics Commission case concerning former DS Ladislav Demko. They received confidential support from TCA’s Ethics Officer and pro-bono legal team; support included in every rider’s annual membership.

@UCIcycling found Demko in breach of its Code of Ethics, including provisions relating to psychological abuse and the protection of physical and mental integrity.

Abuse is not always easy to recognise. It can look like:

-Aggressive or disrespectful behaviour
-Demeaning, condescending or patronizing language
-Being deliberately excluded from team training, activities or conversations
-Being isolated from people you trust
-Humiliation or public criticism
-Threats, intimidation or pressure
-Having your independence undermined
-Or other inappropriate behaviour

Unsure if something “crosses the line”? Contact us to speak to us confidentially; understand what isn’t acceptable and explore your options.

We are here to listen. We are here to support you. You do not have to handle it alone.

The full decision is available on the UCI website. The decision remains subject to appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
