Another awesome day learning a new skill!
Thanks to my amazing teacher and sister @thedalythread at her new up and coming Daly Thread Studio. I sewed my first tshirt! From scratch!
Measured the pattern, cut it out, sewed it together and even got to choose a funky label to put in.
Again its not perfect, but I will get there, especially with the professional guidance from @thedalythread 👏👏

Thank you again for a brilliant day.

Lessons will soon be available for you to book too if you fancy learning a new skill/hobby!

This account is changing!

Over the last few months I’ve been developing “The Daly Thread Studio” here in Nottingham where I’ll be teaching people how to sew 🥰

The website is nearly ready and I can’t wait to welcome people into the studio! 🙌🏻

Don’t worry, you’ll still be seeing my makes as well as the students’ sewing…so the account is changing, but for the better 🥰

Guys, can you actually believe it! I made a thing! 🙈😂

As you’ll all probably know, this is the @tillybuttons Marnie blouse, which I made in a size 4 (I think this is a size down from where my measurements fell).

I did a very deep hem (4.5cm) as I felt it came up a bit long on me, but I do like to tuck it in 👍🏻

The fabric is a gorgeous viscose twill from @bawntextiles - it was a pleasure to work with!

Overall I’m so pleased with it! The undulating tucks were really fun to do, so if you’re scared to try, take this as your sign to give it a go! What’s the worst that could happen 😉

💥 Big news!! 💥

My website has finally gone live, so you lovely people can get booking onto the classes!

There’s currently two types of classes available:
*Beginner Tote Bag - make the Stash Tote by Matchy Matchy.
*Sew your own T-shirt - make the Jesse Tee by True Bias.

I am also offering 1:1 sessions so if you have a project you want to work on, send an enquiry and we’ll work it out together!

I’m hoping to offer more seasonal projects closer to December too 🥰 so keep an eye out!

Can’t wait to see you at a class soon!

Hello! 👋🏻 how are you?

I thought you might like to see a little charity shop haul…

I’ve been trying to get hold of a lot of second hand fabrics recently to use in my upcoming classes - I’m going to be teaching the Stash Tote by @matchymatchysewingclub for complete beginners as it’s such a great pattern, and you can mix and match fabrics, so essentially you become a designer!

Let me know what you think of this little haul - what’s your favourite thing I found? 🤩

How to make a lavender pouch to enjoy the relaxing scent of winter later in the year

With a handful of flowers, some fabric scraps and a sewing machine in the garden, the One Minute Gardener and @thedalythread made these beautiful lavender pouches after I harvested some of the blooms. I was sure to leave more than enough for pollinators 🐝

The reason I love growing lavender is that a single plant can:
🌿 Feed pollinators for weeks
🪻 Fill the garden with incredible fragrance
🧵 Become something handmade that reminds you of summer all year long

I hope these little pouches will still be filling our home with scent long after the last lavender flowers have faded!

When you get fabric this beautiful it deserves its own post 😉

I know I haven’t been very active on here recently as I’m just not sewing much, but hopefully that will change over the next few months 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Pretty fabric is always a good starting place right - this is a striped linen in like an oat and brown colour, and a cornflower blue tencel twill - both are from @bawntextiles 🥰

Bevan thank you for the lovely little note - when the tencel colours are this nice, you know I’ll be getting some 😉

I know most people love prints, but for me it’s classic plains all the way! Don’t get me wrong, when the right print comes along, I definitely will go for it, but I do love a solid colour!!

This is the Page hoodie by @truebias which I’ve made once before - it’s a great staple and an enjoyable, quick make 😊

I made the 14 and I lengthened it slightly as it does come up quite cropped. I wish I’d made the sleeves a bit wider but nevermind!
