Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve been shooting a wide range of corporate interviews—from recruiting videos and conversations with the founder of Vertex to interviews with board members and directors.

I have become obsessed with shooting on window/glass lately. These shoots have challenged me and the team to become better at filming interviews on glass. It can create a polished, modern look, but reflections and changing daylight make the setup deceptively difficult, especially if you are filming all-day.

A few lessons we’ve learned:

- Bring an ND filter, even on overcast days, so you can maintain control of the background exposure.
- Use a powerful key light that can compete with the daylight coming through the windows.
- Expose for the background first, then light your subject to match.
- Before increasing the power of your light, move it closer to your subject—without making them uncomfortable. This creates a softer, more flattering image while giving you more output.
- Finally, pay close attention to your angles. Adjusting the position of the camera, subject, and lights can help manage unwanted reflections.

Here are a few interview frames from the past couple of weeks that we’re especially proud of.
