Got to preview the new Burbank airport ahead of its opening. My favorite part was When We Reflect, a sculptural piece by @gkstudio in the center of the space. Beautiful to experience, and even more meaningful once you know the story behind it.

The piece was inspired by camouflage nets made by Japanese Americans incarcerated at Santa Anita during WWII, including the artist’s family. Those nets helped hide the old Burbank airport and neighboring Lockheed aircraft plant from potential aerial attacks by making them look like a suburban neighborhood from above.

Here, something once used to conceal becomes a surface that reflects the people below. A moment to see ourselves together and reflect on the history behind it. taken in Hollywood Burbank Airport - BUR by @thedesignecture

A modern take on the traditional buffet, we incorporated a nook that mirrors the dining room table, creating a space to lay out a smorgasbord without occupying the table. Extra platters, bowls, glasses, and dining essentials are stored underneath behind cabinet doors, blending practicality with sleek, modern lines while preserving floor space.

As we begin the journey of designing a home, the client becomes our muse, igniting our creative vision. We imagine them and their family inhabiting the space, immersing ourselves in their lifestyle, dreams, aspirations, likes, and dislikes, and finally envisioning their daily life in the space--the responses to colors, textures, shapes, and patterns. When we hand over the keys to their new home, our heartfelt wish is to offer the owners a space that speaks intimately to their unique spirit and personal style.

Nestled beside an expansive vista of the canyon, this Kitchen focused on creating a lovely connection to nature. Twin islands provide ample storage, room to work, and a cozy setting for swapping stories over delicious meals with great company.

Love a good soak in a claw foot tub? Silver hardware accents the minimal design of this calming oasis with natural sunlight beaming through the window.

Imagine if design could inject joy into mundane tasks. We relocated the laundry facilities to the heart of the house, an unexpected feature in traditional spatial layouts. The cabinet doors smoothly recess to reveal a full-size washer and dryer, maximizing functionality while maintaining a sleek appearance. Laundry day doesn't have to be a drag...
