Atlanta, thanks for welcoming (and devouring) my food with open arms. We were awarded Eater Atlanta’s Best Food Pop-Up of the Year🏆!! And I’m still processing it.

Huge thank you to @eater_atlanta and @hennabakshi for the love and for shining a light on what we’re building. And to every single person who’s come out, waited in line, brought their families and friends, and told someone “you HAVE to try this” — this award is yours as much as it is ours.

If you didn’t already know, I do this on top of my career in cybersecurity. It’s long hours but on the weekends if when I let my creative juices flow. And this year… becoming a father for the first time changed everything. This is the cherry on top — and honestly, the best thing to happen to me after that!

2025 was our best year to date. But, 2026 is about to be our biggest and baddest year yet!! We’re going to continue to grow… and we’re hoping to drop some HUGE news soon 👀

To everyone who’s supported us through two wildly successful years — thank you for helping us grow to where we are today.

ATL (and everybody traveling in town to eat) — I’m gonna keep grinding, even with everything else on my plate, because y’all deserve it.

There’s a new guy on the block and it’s @thedhababbq . Ever wanted to know what magic you get when Indian food meets southern bbq? Chef JVP has mixed up some incredible flavors like the fan fav the tandoori chicken sandwich (my favorite too, you gotta try). Fully believe you should go all out and try one of each so come hungry & bring your friends. They have veggie friendly & GF options too. My sisters fav was the lamb burger esp with that special sauce. Add to your list!

Jay Patel had his first taste of meat in high school, when he accidentally took a bite of a meatball during a football team dinner.

The experience was revelatory for Patel, whose family is from Gujarat, India, where the diet is primarily vegetarian. “It was like my life went from black-and-white to full-blown color,” he said.

Much to his mother’s chagrin, he embraced the meat-eating life, started cooking meat dishes during college, and later making food for friends at parties.
After relocating to Atlanta from his native Chicago three years ago with his wife, he enjoyed exploring the city’s thriving pop-up scene. Patel, who works as a cybersecurity manager, decided it was the perfect time for him to introduce his Indian-meets-Southern cooking to the public.

About six months ago, he launched pop-up Dhaba BBQ.

Blood sweat and tears have not only been put in once, but TWICE now for this collaboration to happen. The first one was absolute banger, and this one is only going to be a whole LEVEL UP. 🔥 DHABA BBQ IS BACK FOR ROUND 2! 🇮🇳🔥

We had so much fun the first time, we figured why not run it back with even more flavor?

We’re bringing the heat back to Umbrella Bar with a little Indian street food, Southern BBQ, and some drinks to keep the party going! 🇮🇳🍗🍹

Think Butter Chicken Wings dripping in our signature Dhaba Sauce, Gulab Jamun Pork Belly Burnt Ends bringing that sweet and smoky goodness, and Tandoori Brisket Kathi Rolls wrapped in warm, pillowy paratha. 🤤
