As someone who had locs for nearly 20 years, I recently cut all my locs off on Dec 20th, 2024, and started fresh. It was something I didn’t see myself doing it in the near future, and then all of a sudden it happened. At the time I did it I was nervous, but I knew I needed a change. So when I got the opportunity to do this photoshoot with Jahara, Emma, and Bree it was the perfect transition in time. I’m so grateful for this photoshoot not only because this was the first photoshoot without my locs, but because this was the last photoshoot, my dad was able to see me in.

This photoshoot showed me that I am a diamond, and the name was given to me by my father for a reason. So to everyone out there, struggling with transition, whether it’s for yourself or for others, just know I’m here with you. But also, know time is always moving forward, whether they’re ready for or not, and things happen for a reason. It’s up to you to move forward with faith.

If you ever feel like you’re not good enough, this is a message to prove you wrong.

I had the opportunity to shoot a production with the creatives of @gritsonsunday to be presented to #reebok . An absolute masterpiece was created, and I couldn’t be more pleased with how this message was delivered. We as Creatives often get stuck with our own thoughts of not being good enough, being overbearing, being too outside of the box. But I’m here to say the box is just that, a box to box you in. And if you ever want to stand out, you cannot be boxed in. I’ve been learning a lot about myself the past year and I’m truly grateful to be around so many amazing people, with stupendous creative abilities, and always willing to encourage those around them.

This powerful message that was created for girls and women like me to say unapologetically, “you are enough, you are worth it, show them.”

Forever grateful to @barrettmillerii @antonioknoxx @j.maclin and Farheena Mustafa for this opportunity. And to everyone behind-the-scenes thank you for making this a once in a lifetime experience of being so inviting, so supporting and encouraging. This was the best first acting role I’ve ever been in.

Reminding myself, I’ve come a long way.
And it’s only more ground to cover….

I’m extremely grateful for everything I’ve been through, because it only makes me fight harder to get to all my accomplishments. So thankful for everyone who helped me get to the person I am today.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn.

This statement becomes more true, as I have become older. Defeat or failure is not an option. Continue to push yourself through hard times.

I often get stuck in my thoughts, trying to escape reality. I feel lately I’m actually holding myself back. Face what is causing you pain, so you can step outside of your comfort zone. Life is meant to be, just that.. life. Make it worth living.

I have always had certain habits to challenge for me subconsciously; hiding my hand has always been one of them. When I saw Lyric Mariah for the first time, I thought how could she exhibit so much confidence? Is she not insecure? That was my problem, on the outside looking in I just saw a person with deformities.

As I look at this photo, I realized all the insecurities I was holding onto were for no reason of my own. I would have never posted a photo with my hand showing this much, because I have always felt like no-one would want or wasn’t supposed to see my hand deformed. This photo makes me realize I need to be seen. Not for all my flaws, before all my beauty.

This photoshoot presented Keziah’s heritage and where her ancestors will take her, but it also showed me where I need to be. My amniotic band syndrome does not define who I am. It’s just a piece of me. If I’m too scared to show pieces of me, I will never be able to understand all of me. So here’s to that.
