CLUB STATEMENT

Today we announce that The Ditch will unfortunately not be renewing for the coming season.

We started this club two years ago, when many of our players were at a transitional point in their lives - leaving university, finding jobs, moving away from home, and even getting married. The positive is that The Ditch, many players have told me, remained a constant in their weekly schedule - a no-planning-required way to stay in touch with friends (both old and new) regardless of anything else going on.

The downside is that these changing schedules have meant it’s increasingly difficult to find enough players each week, and the amount of work it takes to do so sadly isn’t sustainable any longer.

While we’re not continuing as a competitive club, we’re planning to organise regular friendlies between ourselves as a way to maintain the social aspect and keep an eye on whether we should renew in the future.

We wanted to end by saying thank you to anyone who’s ever played a game, come to watch a game, or even just followed our progress online. It’s the people that make a club what it is - and this has been some club.
