Monique Powell is an iconic figure of the 1990s Third Wave Ska scene and continues to tour the world as an ambassador of the genre. In this first episode of "Women in Punk" I delve into her rise within the 1990s music boom, review her unique contributions to ska, and analyze what makes her such an incredible frontwoman and musician.

The "Women in Punk" @womeninpunk series is intended to highlight female contributions and increase female visibility in the punk scene. I want to uncover hidden stories, fill in the gaps in music history, provide a platform for female musicians, support women role models, and create community. This page will include spotlights on female artists, interviews, reviews, and ideas on how to create equity and opportunities in the punk scene. If you have any suggestions or recommendations, please reach out.

Really excited for the debut album of my ska band @thedivetones to come out this year @randalerecords . The album was mixed and produced by the incredible @slackeragentjay , and features vocals by the insanely talented @vic_ruggiero on one of our tunes. Watch this space for the release date for vinyl and streaming.
