Happy Sissy Sunday & National Walk the Dog Day! 🩰

Bel is wearing a muzzle as needed these days. I won’t lie, seeing her in it hit me harder than I expected. She is not a “bad dog” by any means! Reality is, some walks and situations are overwhelming for her and the muzzle is one tool I am using to help her feel safe and confident while navigating the world. Thank you for being here with us while I learn to lean into the discomfort, trust the process, and remind myself that doing this for her is an act of love. 🫶🏽

PSA: Muzzles are not punishment; they are support. Dogs wear them for all sorts of reasons like vet visits, grooming stress, reactivity, or just proactive pawrenting. Please remember that muzzled dogs are loved dogs with big feelings learning to trust the world. 🥲

Now get back motherpuppers; you don’t know her like that! 🛑

We’re taking it all the way back this Wednesday to share a low quality photo, but high quality memory. 📸

Bass was just 4 months old here and I was 27. He was my first personal dog (I grew up with family dogs) and boy, what a breed (IYKYK)! 😅

I had no idea how much of my life would be dedicated to helping him become the best version of himself. What I now realize is that he’s spent those same six years helping me become the best version of myself, too. 🫶🏽

We’ve both grown up quite a bit since this photo, but I’m so glad we’ve gotten to do it together. Cheers to you, sweet boy. I can't wait to celebrate you on Friday! 🥹

Happy Sissy Sunday! 🩰

As many of you know from our stories, last Monday morning Bel woke up screaming in pain. We quickly noticed significant swelling around her neck/throat, so I called our vet as soon as they opened. They advised us to come in, but after arrival ultimately referred us straight to the emergency hospital. 🏥

After several hours at the ER, bloodwork, X-rays, and other testing all came back normal aside from the swelling. She was sent home with an anti-inflammatory, an antibiotic, pain medication, and strict instructions to rest for 10 days with very limited activity. ❤️‍🩹

One week later, I'm happy to report our Belly Button is doing so much better. We still have no idea what happened. However, the swelling has gone down significantly (swipe through to see for yourself), she's back to eating and drinking, and she's acting much more like herself. She's even enjoying short walks in a harness and a little supervised ball time. We're still holding off on full DoberDevil chaos for now, but seeing how much Big Bro missed having his Sissy nearby has been so sweet. 🥹

Thank you all for the prayers, love, and check-ins this past week. This community feels so much more like family than followers and we're incredibly grateful for each and every one of you. 🫶🏽

No matter how chaotic life gets, walking through it with Bass and Bel will always be my favorite part. ✨

Here’s to slowing down (technically, we’re forced to), healing (for her and me), finishing the last week of an intense school year (3 more days), and soaking up every moment (both expected and unexpected) with my built in besties. 🫶🏽
