Salute to all of my fellow Veterans on Veterans Day 🫡.
As for standard procedure and protocol, my fellow Marines will get double salutes and a set of 20 pull-ups and 20 pushups 🫡🫡🫡💪🏾

This was dope. The school I attend in combination with the Veterans Resource Center on campus and the School Media department took photos and posted banners of us Veterans on campus.

It’s the little things like this that count.
Definitely appreciate it.

For those who don’t know
I’m a Marine Veteran
Was a Jet engine mechanic while in the military
And study Product Design/Industrial Design in school
Though I have already graduated from this school and have my Associates in Science, but I’m still taking additional classes here and there as I build my Product Design portfolio with the goal of transferring to the prestigious Design school Art Center College of Design.
Also… my middle name is Lee which is where the name DonLee comes from which is the name most of you know me by.

Militaries, War, Politics, Governments are all touchy subjects, and easily lumped together, especially in modern day but I can promise that not everyone is a sheep and that we are not all bad. Not perfect either. We too have flaws, sometimes are more flawed than you and it’s unfortunate but history will show that war is part of human nature. Even though some of us even those who have served wish it weren’t so.

Day in and day out we often take many things for granted (myself included) and I’d like to give a special highlight to the Veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice and those who came before us.

Didn’t get to post anything spooky for Halloween so I figured this would be spooky enough.
Weighted pull-ups.
50 pounds to be exact.

Couple months back, was on a journey to regain my pull-up strength/calisthenics strength as I lost majority of it just from not being as active as I’d like to be, being busy with life and school, etc. I then got a gym membership (though I prefer park workouts) and tried to hit the gym atleast 1 or 2 times a week (and if I was lucky 3 times) on my way home from school.
The goal was simple. Regain my pull-up/ calisthenics strength. So each time I’d go, especially knowing that I wasn’t going as frequently as the norm… I had to “pay my pull-up strength tax/ticket”… a minimum of 50 or 100 pull-ups first thing (often added weights to them) and then maybe 3 or 4 other workouts that hit the back and bicep muscles. AND THEN the normal gym workout could begin. If it was leg day or chest day, etc. That only came after my “pull-up Strength tax/ticket” in a few months I regained quite a bit of strength.
My goal was 25 under hand pull-ups and then I’d move on to overhand, build those up and only then I’d focus on doing muscle ups after that like I once did in the past. I got my underhand pull-ups to 25, felt good, kept going, got it to 33 or so… told myself before I switch to overhand I might as well push to 40 and if I could do 40 I could go to 50 pull-ups in a row…

I stopped at around 33 or so. Got really busy with school again. And at the time, I was to compete in an in-house boxing competition. Jabs only. I realized then as well I was lifing Too heavy and it made me sluggish when I began to spar and prepare for that competition. I knocked the rust off in sparring and ended up doing great in that competition. But realized moving forward to make sure I don’t become too sluggish from gym workouts and to make sure to stay agile, fast, dynamic and limber so that will be something I also keep in mind moving forward

Though I once again got a little busy, I recently bought an indoor pull-up bar so I can do them at home
Let’s see if I can reach 40 or 50 in a row this time around

Us Marines sure love our pull-ups.
