A Conversation with Christine Domino, by Cora Secore On Thursday, October 15th, I went to The DRAW to interview the teaching artist for our Collage Sessions class: Christine Domino. She’s a lively, soulful woman with a deep passion for collage and spiritual health. I found myself in yet another enlightening conversation where a new perspective showed me an artistic angle I had never known before. She’s someone who pays attention to the significance of every individual while keeping up her sense of humor and whimsy. I asked Christine what she likes about collage, a medium that has clearly meant so much to her for so long. “Firstly, that it is accessible to anyone, you don’t need a Bachelors in Fine Arts and that it is a portable medium. If you can tear or cut paper and use a glue stick, you can do collage. You can work in an art pad, journal, or create an altered book and store images in a folder or ziplock bag,” Christine explained, “I was also a massage therapist for about 12-15 years, so I’m a very tactile person. I love the textures, paper , and colors that create a visual language. Including ephemera, incorporates memories from my daily life that blend in personal meaning." Since Christine is a teacher here, I got to ask about what teaching her class is really like for her. In her answer, I got to hear just how many possibilities there really were to the art of collage. “I’m having a lot of fun,” Christine said, “This coming session will be the seventh one that I am facilitating. I can’t believe it was only last September when I asked if I could try this out. It’s nice to have a couple of core people who are ‘repeat offenders’ so to speak, and new people cycle in so I meet a lot of new people in the area. It’s what I wanted and more, to be in a community with people and create. Each week I share a different technique or prompt, sharing examples of monochromatic work, using strips of paper like they are creating a quilt, use of templates, creating background papers, gel print, image transfer, use of mark making and stencils or stamps.” Read the full interview on mkad.art! by @thedrawkingston
hi friends! couldn’t be more stoked to get the word out about this event: August’s 2024 pamphlet - You Don’t Need A Smartphone - inspired me to downgrade to a flip phone 2 years ago, something that has changed the way I think about technology in my day to day life, and ignited my curiosity about smartphone addiction in my clinical work. That original pamphlet has since been transformed into a full book! I’m so pleased that August was willing to add a Kingston stop on their book launch tour, and grateful to @qwipmusic and @chris0neal for helping make this event a reality! For all the folks who have been curious about the logistics of downgrading, frictionmaxxing, etc - PULL UP to The DRAW on 11/11 📞‼️and for my technocritical people in other cities, check out the other tour dates ☮️ by @thedrawkingston
THE BACK & FORTH Collaborative Collage/Mixed Media Works Carol Struve Stephen Niccolls Exhibition The DRAW Gallery 24 Iwo Jima, Kingston NY November 7–28, 2026 Opening Reception
Saturday, November 7th, 5-7pm THE BACK & FORTH is an exhibition of collaboration collages that seem to contain a narrative of how they came to be. It is possible to examine each of these works and imagine the steps of the process that brought the object into being in its present form. The exhibition was inspired by a collection of collaborative wedding anniversary cards the artists started making in 2020. Instead of making 2 cards for each anniversary, they started collaborating on one card to celebrate each year of their marriage since. Learn more on our website linked in bio by @thedrawkingston

We love seeing what can happen when organizations come together! 🤝 Thank you to The DRAW for collaborating with Career InTouch and giving our IMI mentees the opportunity to use the Neighborhood Print Studio! Our mentees had a great time screen-printing T-shirts for the new cohort while learning a new skill and exploring their creativity. We’re grateful to work with organizations that share our commitment to youth development and encouraging young people to explore their passions. We are looking forward to more collaborations! #CareerInTouch #YouthDevelopment #WorkforceDevelopment #CommunityPartnerships #YouthMentorship by @thedrawkingston

You know them and you love them, they're the teaching artists of The DRAW!! For years, they've taught children and adults alike in various creative practices. With their contributions, these artists have helped tremendously in solidifying The DRAW as a landmark in Kingston's arts community. Have you ever wondered what these art educators have created on their own time? Every year, The DRAW Gallery exhibits the Teaching Artists Show, a special celebration and spotlight for the artists who keep accessible arts education alive. Artists that will be featured include but are not limited to: John Quinn (teacher of Animation Fundamentals), Pablo Shine (teacher of multiple watercolor classes), Christine Domino (teacher of Collage Sessions), Alyssa Gougoutris (teacher of Saturday Arts Lab), and Chris O'Neal (teacher of Visual Storytelling). The exhibition will be at The DRAW Gallery (where these teachers teach!) at 24 Iwo Jima Lane. The opening reception will be held during Art Walk Kingston and the 2026 Steamroller Print Fest, Saturday September 19th, from 12 - 4pm. Come stop by for an artmaking extravaganza! Interested in taking any classes at The DRAW? You can also check our class calendar at mkad.art or go straight to Corsizio to register! by @thedrawkingston
