My resting place for creativity🌱
Hand-painted pieces for cozy spaces

POSTS STORIES REELS

Hi, I’m Layla, and this is The Dwelling Room.

I’m a nurse, traveller, and an artist with a heart for stillness.

The Dwelling Room is a quiet place where I come to slow down and create. However, it’s not just a space, but a posture - a way of making art that feels like rest.
It’s a place where I don’t create alone.

Alongside original paintings, I also create custom home signs - hand-painted on aged barn board or stretched canvas - made to reflect the beauty and heart of your space.

If a piece here speaks to you, or you have an idea quietly waiting, I’d love to hear from you.

I’m so excited to connect with you.

Handmade Christmas ornaments are officially stocked at Bean on a Mission (1455 Venetian Blvd, Point Edward) 🎄✨

These are extra special to me - my grandpa cut all the wood slices, I painted the words, and now they’re ready to hang on your tree.

4 for $28

Hand-painted on live edge barn wood, this piece carries a quiet reminder for any space. Be still (Psalm 37:7).

Been working on a fun little project lately - here are a few hand-painted coasters I’ve been making…

Each one’s sealed with a semi-gloss finish to keep it strong and add a soft shine.

I’m currently taking custom orders, so if you have a colour combo, pattern, or idea in mind, I’d be so happy to make something special for you!🧚🏻‍♀️

A special canvas piece I created while fundraising for my mission trip to Tanzania, Africa. What started as a simple way to raise support turned into something so meaningful to me…

If you want to learn more about me, my trip, or the story behind my art, I had the honour of sharing my journey with Art Connolly from Humans of Sarnia - and he captured it beautifully.

Check out my story for the full feature🤍
