March golf in PA is rare. It’s great to be outdoors with good friends and fresh air. Don’t take days like this for granted.

Rescue Rack Episode 1

Walking through the local Goodwill I found an old Nike ProCombo 3 iron sitting in a bin with some old golf clubs. $6 later she was on her way to her new forever home. New ferrule and a repurposed shaft and voilà. New fairway finder. Thanks Ray at Golf Specialtees and thank you to Aaron and Chris at Par from the Car for their hard work and the donated shaft 🙏🏼. This one’s going straight in the bag.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Now down to business. We have all probably slept on the OnCore Elixir, but it turns out this ball has a chance to be one of the better performing “budget” golf balls. Pretty similar construction to the Kirkland everyone rushed out to play when they thought it was a knock off Pro V1. If you don’t want to spend $55 on a box of balls, think about giving the OnCore a try. I have a Nike Mojo and a Srixon Z Star. Let me know which one you wanna see next!

Third up in the series. Nitro Ultimate Distance. A reoccurring theme in these distance balls is the two piece ball with similar core materials but varying cover thicknesses. I haven’t played any of these balls so I really can’t comment on their performance. I would imagine based on their construction, they probably have a lot of similarities. Comment what ball you played when you first started golfing. For me personally, I played a lot of noodles and Topflite XL 2000’s. Or… whatever I found in the woods while looking for my ball. Haha.

What is currently your favorite golf ball?

Second installment in the what’s inside the golf ball series. This is a Wilson Chaos. I don’t know a lot about this ball in particular but it has an interesting look! It’s always interesting and a little exciting to see how different but also similar these balls can be! Do you have a specific golf ball you are curious about? Like and leave a comment and we’ll see if we can’t examine your favorite golf ball to play. PS forgive the background noise. My daughters get pretty intense when they play their switch.

Having fun with our little family art project. The reveal is the most exciting part. Good thing I spent so much time in the woods looking for my golf ball, and finding yours! If you see one of your old balls, we appreciate your contribution! Haha

As we were cutting open old golf balls for the girls new art project, Fin cut into an old wound Balata golf ball. The little blue hollow core was typically filled with oil, then wrapped in rubber bands. As Fin punctured the core she got sprayed with all that old oil and was immediately displeased lol. But it was very cool to see the old technology and compare it to the balls we use today. The girls were very curious about the gum bands and the crazy smell…

Have you ever wondered what the inside of a golf ball looks like. I have a whole collection of odd golf balls I’ve found over time and I’ve decided to cut them open to see what they’re like inside. Once we’re done with this series my kids will be making artwork with the balls we’ve dissected. This should be a fun and interesting project with all the layers and colors. Please like and comment what golf ball you’d like to see the inside of!

Another successful trip to Nemacolin Woodlands Resort for golfing and goofing in the books. Thanks to Mikey V and all the sponsors who contributed to the western PA Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates. The best golfing PA has to offer along with top notch treatment and incredible views. I am very grateful and kinda spoiled.
