The Eddy Podcast: A place where dads who’ve had difficult experiences as parents can listen & share their stories, offering guidance & hope to others.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Your words could be the very thing another father needs to hear today.

At Eddy we know there is immense strength in shared stories.

Too often, dads feel they have to be “the rock,” suffering in silence while carrying a weight most will never understand. But hearing how another man has navigated the darkness can be a powerful light.

We are looking for voices to join the conversation.

Whether you are navigating child loss or the complexities of extra needs, your story helps the next father realise he isn’t alone.

When you are ready, we are here to listen. No pressure, no script, just a conversation, dad to dad. This can be recorded for the podcast or shared in writing.

To the fathers carrying a weight most will never understand: I’ve been right there and walked a few miles in your shoes. I’m Scott Jackson, the founder of Eddy. I created this network because I know firsthand the silence and isolation that often follows the profound loss of a child and the ongoing journey of raising a child with a disability. I’ve lived through the trauma and I’m navigating the daily challenges alongside you right now. I’ve found that there is immense comfort and strength in our shared stories.

That is why Eddy exists.

Our voices have power, and our words could be the very thing another father needs to hear right now, to keep moving forward today.

Please watch this short video where you’ll hear my story and when you are ready, I would be honoured to listen to your journey.

There is no pressure and no script here - just one dad talking to another. Whether you want to join me for a conversation on the podcast or share your story in writing for our website, you have full control.

Together, let’s help the next dad who feels like he’s walking this path alone.

With Father’s Day mid-June and other recognised days and events this month, it can be heavy for dads carrying the weight of fatherhood. Whatever you’re going through, we hold space for it all here at Eddy today and every day.

🔵Carers Week (8–14 June) recognises the millions of dads providing care for children with disabilities or illness. Many don’t see themselves as “carers” - just as dads. We recognise the deep physical and mental exhaustion that comes with raising a child with extra needs.

🔵June also brings Men’s Health Week (15-21 June) shining a light on the unique challenges men face: the emotional weight of parenting, trauma, and the lasting impact of losing a child.

🔵Father’s Day (21 June) can be the hardest day of the year, a time of profound isolation for bereaved dads, or those for whom traditional celebrations feel out of reach due to their child’s needs.

🔵Children’s Hospice Week (15-21 June) honours families navigating life-limiting conditions, and the heavy, anticipatory grief dads carry when facing the loss of a child.

🔵While International Bereaved Father’s Day is in August, the UK bereavement community marks an alternative day on Sunday 28 June 2026. This lets dads honour their children, away from the commercial pressure of traditional Father’s Day.

While Eddy recognises the month of June, we stand with dads all year round.

Our podcast offers a safe space to listen, feel less alone, and find comfort in shared experience.

You are always welcome to contact our founder, Scott Jackson, whether you want to tell your story, arrange a time to chat, or simply connect.

If you missed it last week, @contactfamilies ran a live Q&A with @GOSHCharity respiratory paediatrician Dr Martin Samuels. For many disabled children with medical conditions or communication difficulties, winter infections like the flu or Strep A can pose a serious risk. Dr Samuels gives advice on how spot the signs of infection and get the right treatment. You can find the link in our bio.
