Five years ago, on New Year’s Eve, I picked up my first professional camera and did my very first photoshoot.I had no idea that one decision would make my presence in this world feel so purposeful. 🙏🏾Being blessed with the gift of artistry, creativity, and vision is both an honor and a responsibility. No matter what has come my way—the obstacles, the losses, the noise—I’ve continued to show up and create. Every experience, every challenge, and every person who has stepped in front of my camera has shaped who I am today. ✨Whether you’re still in my life or were part of a season, thank you. First and foremost, thank you God—for your grace, protection, vision, and the purpose you placed over my life. The gifts you gave me have carried me, and I give you all the glory.I’m a Black, gay artist from Victory Park in Louisville, KY. A 2019 Central High grad, Upward Bound alum, and Phase 24 Whitney M. Young Scholar. I started photography with no formal training—just a phone, a vision, and faith.I’ve been counted out, lied on, overlooked, and underestimated. There were times I had nothing—but still gave everything. Still showed up. Still created. Still prayed. Still pushed through the fear, the anxiety, the betrayal, the heartbreaks, and the sacrifices.This Photographer of the Year Award from the Black-Owned Business & Excellence Awards (BOBE) is a reminder that God’s timing is perfect and your work is never in vain.This is for every young Black creative.
