Less than two years ago, if you’d told me I’d be a published author speaking on stages, I would have laughed it off.

Then one phone call handed me a question I’d feared my whole life. The woman who hung up that night is not the woman typing this caption.

My 5-month-old taught me what “effortless” really means.
I just applied to speak at The Effortless Summit (Nov 17–18), alongside John Gray, Ken Honda, Janet Attwood, Marie Diamond, Debra Poneman, and my own speaking coach, Eric Edmeades.

We usually think of effortless as something we’ve done so many times that our body takes over and the mind doesn’t have to push anymore.

But right now I’m building a business from scratch while raising two little ones, including a 5-month-old. So many times I feel the pull to go do the thing right when the baby needs me. When I resist, everything gets harder. Every minute feels like a fight.

What I’m learning is this: effortless is also a decision. In every moment, I can resist what’s being asked of me, or I can flow with it. The pursuit doesn’t change. What changes is how heavy it feels.

A podcast host told me I was the first of 199 coaches she’s interviewed to offer her something in return.

I offered her a free 30-minute session on nervous system regulation and the conditioning that holds us back. She’d been giving so much time and care to every episode, and I wanted to complete the exchange.

The old me gave to be liked. To prove I deserved the seat. This time I gave from a different place: no audition, no scorecard.

When you stop proving your worth, generosity stops costing you anything. It’s just energy moving both ways.

I didn’t give to get something back. I gave because I’m full.

I saw this with my eyes closed. Now I live it with my eyes open.

A sibling for my son wasn’t just a hope; it was a vision I held onto long (almost 5 years) before I had any proof it was coming.

In the moments of doubt, uncertainty and no guarantee, I held onto a knowing that nothing could explain. A deep certainty beyond any logic or any confirmation any medical expert could give me. Every day I tended to that belief until it became a certainty.

Now I get to witness it daily. Real laughter. Real bonding. A vision, living and breathing in front of me.

Still in awe some days. 🤍

Unpopular opinion: the more you memorize your speeches, the less your audience remembers it.

I learned this the hard way. Word for word rehearsal kept me in my head, not in the room. When I switched to embodied storytelling, making my audience live inside the scene instead of just listening, everything changed.

Preparation isn’t the enemy. Over rehearsing is!
