Being this close to the roots of this work, cultivating and farming teaches us to have grace for the season we are in despite the urge to fight it. Yesterday looked like staying later at work, going straight to class for two hours, and finally heading home well after dark. It’s a lot, It’s also what keeps me grounded when I sit down to design; knowing what is in season, knowing which farmers grow what, deepening my understanding of botanical design, and finally certifying portions of my education in farming. ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
The people I get to do this with make the long days feel spiritually rich AF 🫂 I’m so very grateful to my mentors. That’s the peak of this season for me.
Planning for 2027, our biggest year yet. Thank you for growing with us & supporting us no matter when you started 🌼🌸✨ What season are you in? by @theeplanthandler

THIS FRIDAY October 23rd @purcellhousenc presents GARDEN OF EDEN! We are so elated to bring you this curation of such talented artist, RSVP in Purcell House bio to explore Eden 🍎 by @theeplanthandler

MEET THE CURATOR: CJ NIEVES

We are pleased to introduce Greensboro-based farmer, floral designer, and founder of The Plant Handler, CJ Nieves (@theeplanthandler), as Curator of Botanical Design & Environmental Experience for GARDEN OF EDEN.

Rooted in Warnersville, Nieves approaches horticulture and floral design as forms of artistic expression, community building, and cultural resistance. Their practice explores the relationship between nature, equity, and collective care, transforming organic materials into meaningful experiences that connect people to the natural world.

For GARDEN OF EDEN, Nieves brings their expertise in botanical design and environmental storytelling to the curatorial team, shaping the exhibition’s living elements and transforming the gallery into an immersive landscape where art and nature exist in conversation.

Experience the garden at Purcell House on Friday, October 23, from 6–9 PM.

Admission is free. RSVP at the link in bio. by @theeplanthandler
