Last week we walked the Capitol to make our voices heard and say NO to redistricting in Memphis ✊🏾

Today we head to Alabama to stand in solidarity and say the same thing loud and clear our votes matter and we will not be silenced.

Black voting power is being threatened across the South but best believe we are going to fight back because our communities our voices and our democracy are worth protecting.

This is bigger than one city or one state this is about all of us. We’ve been organizing for moments like these. 🚨 Memphis, it’s getting real outside. U.S. Marshals are already on our streets — arresting on outstanding warrants and targeting our people. This isn’t about safety, it’s about control.

💡 But remember: YOU have rights:
✊🏾 You don’t have to answer questions.
✊🏾 You can refuse a search.
✊🏾 You can ask, “Am I free to go?”
✊🏾 You have the right to a lawyer.
✊🏾 You can record what’s happening.

This is what authoritarianism looks like — militarizing our communities instead of investing in us. Memphis doesn’t need occupation. Memphis needs opportunity, dignity, and justice.

Want to do something empowering on your Wednesdays? The Equity Alliance is hosting weekly Voter Empowerment Hub sessions in Nashville, Memphis, and Clarksville from 5–7 PM.

Participants can learn about the activities that take place during election season, including phone banking, text banking, and postcard writing. No prior experience is required, and training is provided.

What’s on the ballot? Depending on where you live in TN, voters may see races for:

This week, partners from immigrant justice organizations across the country gathered to reflect on the state of our communities and grieve the deaths of our neighbors at the hands of ICE and this administration’s agenda of mass deportation, detention, and incarceration.
