The second song of @niivi.music ‘s set on #theextendedplays, “Hear no Howl” is a hardcore and powerful ballad. With heavy electric guitars and droning bass backing Niivi’s rage-filled vocals, it stands out as both a memorable cut in their catalogue.

Check out the full episode to learn more about this track and the songwriting process behind it.

Make sure to follow @niivi.music for information regarding their upcoming shows and release dates.

Truth and Reconciliation cannot happen while Canada is actively harming its indigenous populations.

Real Truth and Reconciliation would mean Canada stop their Oppression and Control over indigenous communities, return the autonomy and land they stole from indigenous peoples therefore reinstating indigenous sovereignty.

Thank you to @theextendedplays for inviting me to perform my songs and to speak about these important issues.

We are honoured to introduce our guest on Episode 3 of #TheExtendedPlays, Niivi.

@niivi.music is a two-spirit Inuit artist raised in Nunavik creating work that is intensely conscious of the cultural realities of the Indigenous lived experience. Niivi describes themself as more of an activist than a musician, with their music simply acting as a medium for activism.

Niivi stopped by @humbleabode.mtl to perform three raw and emotional tracks that provided three windows into the lived experiences of a young Indigenous artist, as well as a traditional Inuit drum song.

This episode was an immensely special one and we are incredibly honoured to share it with you on Sept. 30th.

We are back with another edition of Staff Spins! In the hot seat this time is our Lead Audio Engineer Beatrice!

@b.astice has been spinning Irish singer CMAT’s latest album Euro-Country, a record full of brutal honesty from an artist that proudly wears her emotions on her sleeve.

Euro-Country is the perfect album for someone who thinks about music as deeply as Beatrice does.

What albums have kept you deep in thought this week?

For friends of The EPs currently in Toronto, subscribing to our newsletter automatically gives you the chance to win 2 tickets to a TIFF Screening of Alpha Gang this coming Thursday, September 17th at 2pm.

Another Staff Spin has entered the rotation 💿

Up next: our videographer Janna, spinning System of a Down’s self-titled debut — an album she first found during her 12-year-old MySpace era and hasn’t quite been able to shake since.

Nostalgia, chaos and a sound that simply can’t be replicated. Sounds like a pretty good spin to us.
What are you spinning this week? 🎧
