Hi, I’m Sara. I’m a travel creator and visual storyteller. I believe the most memorable destinations aren't simply seen, they're felt. You'll find me—camera in hand— chasing golden-hour light, documenting one-of-a-kind stays, or planning my next journey. Drawn to the Mediterranean’s sun-washed coastlines and the raw elegance of African safaris, my style is refined, purposeful, and timeless.

My goal is simple: to inspire you to visit faraway places through elevated visuals, curated guides, and soul-stirring stays. by @thefarawayedit

The wild I keep choosing.
The kind that makes you feel the most alive.
The kind that ruins you for anything ordinary.
That’s the kind of wild I always come back for.

The list I wish I had before visiting Milos for the first time…

-Either start or end your Greek island trip in Milos—it has a small airport with frequent flights betwen Athens.

-Spend 4-5 nights to properly explore the island.

-Rent an ATV to get around.

-Stay in Plaka, the island’s hilltop capital, for fairly central base. For a quieter, seaside town, stay in Pollonia.

-Go to Sarakiniko Beach for sunrise and swim after the sun comes up. It’s busy even that early, but worth it.

-Book a boat tour to Kleftiko in advance and make sure it includes Sykia Cave.

-Firopotamos is my favorite fishing village—the water is calm and perfect for swimming.

-Visit the Catacombs of Milos for a break from the midday heat—it’s one of the largest early Christian catacombs sites in the world.

-Islands that pair will with Milos: Sifnos, Paros, or Naxos, all have direct ferry lines. Kimolos is a short ferry ride from Milos and works well as a day trip. For a 10-day trip, pick two islands.

While everyone funnels through Florence, this city sits 90 minutes south and feels like a more genuine side of Tuscany. It’s a place most travelers only treat as a day trip.

Built across three hills, Siena is a city of steep streets, hidden corners, and medieval architecture. Its cathedral, striped in marble, took more than a century to complete. Its Piazza del Campo, shaped like a scallop shell, fills with locals at dusk, and hosts a famous horse race every August. And its 17 historic districts still fly their own flags, carrying centuries of tradition and rivalry through the streets.

Siena isn’t just beautiful—it’s one of Italy’s best-preserved medieval cities an is perfectly positioned for exploring the rest of Tuscany. This Tuscan highlight is a place to stay in, not pass through.

Botswana ruined every other sunset for me.

We spent the afternoon traversing the floodplains in the Okavango Delta. As the sun began to dip, we stopped for sundowners. G&Ts poured, Okavango gin of course, ice clinking as the day faded.

It was our last night in Botswana. The Delta knew it.

What started as a pretty sunset, turned into the most spectacular show of colors I’d ever seen. Palm trees silhouetted in the distance. Like the Delta was putting on one last performance. We stood there, drinks in hand, watching in awe, completely present.

This is why I keep coming back. Some places you visit. Botswana stays with you.

I saw 2 photos of this property’s pool and immediately closed every other Corfu hotel tab I had open. Something about the way the water disappears into the sea—no visible edge, just various shades of blue—and the florals that fill the grounds.

Nido Mar-Bella sits on a hillside above the Ionian, with views across to the mainland mountains. It leans into a rejuvenating aesthetic — sun-drenched archways, lavender-lined paths winding between bougainvillea gardens. The kind of space you slow down in on the walk to morning coffee.

One of the best safari destinations in Africa. Here’s why…

An unfenced border with Kruger National Park. An abundance of wildlife, particularly the Big Five. The highest concentration of leopards of almost anywhere in the world. And limited vehicles, with the ability to venture off-road.

Guides here don’t just know the terrain—they know individual animals by name, their territory, their habits. That’s the difference between hoping for a sighting and knowing where to look. Add world-class lodges built to blend into the wild, and it’s easy to see why this is the reserve every other safari destination gets compared to.

He walked off. The bush kept talking…

A leopard in the rain, making his presence known.
A lilac breasted roller singing her song at sunset.
Wild dogs and hyenas fighting over a kill at night.
An elephant splashing at the waters edge.
A wild dog at the start of a hunt.
The bush, going quiet again.

This is what the wild sounds like.

When I was nine years old, my father handed me a Nikon film camera before I understood what a photograph could hold.

I didn’t know it, but decades later a camera would take me around the world—chasing light across the Mediterranean, following leopard tracks through the African wilderness. Learning that a photo is never just a pretty picture—it’s transportive. It shares a glimpse into a place, a feeling, a world you can almost step into. That’s the story a photo tells.

The world’s moved swiftly toward video, and I’ve learned to love it too. But nothing like what a single frame can hold. A leopard cub, still and watching, half-hidden in the grass. An elephant walking straight into the last light of the day. A beach in Greece, found by accident, and the best swim of the trip. Sundowners poured on the back of a Land Cruiser.

Some of my favorite frames from over the years, in no particular order.

The list I wish I had before visiting Kefalonia for the first time…

-Rent a car and stay a full week—the island is bigger than you think

-Spend five nights in Sami or Agia Efimia (a central base to explore from), then stay the last two nights in the south and relax—Eliamos Villas Hotel or White Rocks Hotel are great options

-Go in September, not October—by early October the rain starts and shops begin to close for the season

-Visit Melissani Cave at midday, when the sun hits the water just right

-Take the boat taxi to Fteri beach—the hike down is steep

- Myrtos Beach is beautiful, but the currents are strong—be careful swimming here

-Don’t skip Assos—the colorful village is perfect for a morning coffee

-Fiskardo is where you want sunset drinks—Le Passage or the terrace at Theodora’s Cafe Bar

-Antisamos Beach is stunning for swimming, just know the fish literally bite
