For the second week in a row, our DII Volleyball Setter of the Week is Beatrice Testa, from Hillsborough College! 

A sophomore from Rome, Italy she averaged 12.0 assists over 11 sets. She helped Hillsborough to a perfect 3-0 week by recording three straight double-doubles; 40 assists and 14 digs vs. South Florida State, 44 assists and 13 digs vs. Indian River State, and 48 assists and 13 digs vs. Palm Beach State. She also averaged 0.3 kills, 0.3 service aces, 3.6 digs and 0.6 blocks.

Our DII Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week is Joselyn Wanberg, from Lake-Sumter State College! 

A sophomore Defensive Specialist from Eustis, Florida, she averaged 5.3 digs over 10 sets. She helped the Lakehawks to a 3-0 week by having 15 digs vs Gulf Coast State and 31 vs. Pensacola State. She also averaged 1.1 assists.

Our DII Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week is Nadia Ewton, from St. Johns River State College! 

A sophomore Outside Hitter from Jacksonville Beach, Florida, she averaged 4.2 kills and posted a .306 hitting percentage on 124 total attempts over 13 sets. She helped the Vikings to a 2-1 week by recording double-doubles vs. Gulf Coast State (18 kills, 10 digs) and Pensacola State (24 kills, 17 digs), the latter coming in a five-set victory. She also averaged 0.4 service aces, 2.7 digs and 0.5 blocks.

Our DI Volleyball Setter of the Week is, you guessed it, Eleonora Gicheva, from Miami Dade College!! This is her sixth time being nominated for this award this season. 

A sophomore from Sofia, Bulgaria, she averaged 7.3 assists over eight sets, 1.3 kills, 0.5 service aces, 1.3 digs, and 0.1 blocks. She led the Sharks to wins over Polk State and Florida SouthWestern by recording 22 assists vs. Polk State and 36 assists (along with eight kills and nine digs) vs. Florida SouthWestern.

For the second time this season, our DI Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week is Maria Fernanda de Lima Varela, from Miami Dade College!! 

A sophomore MB from Recife, Brazil, she averaged 2.3 blocks over eight sets, 1.6 kills, and 0.4 service aces. She helped the sharks to a 2-0 week by recording a school-record 17 blocks in the Sharks' five-set victory against Florida SouthWestern.

For the second week in a row, our DI Volleyball Offensive Player of the Wee is Isabela Candido, from Florida SouthWestern State College! 

A freshman Outside Hitter from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, she averaged 4.9 kills and posted a .408 hitting percentage over nine sets. She posted a 26-kill, a 10-dig double-double, as well as a .605 hitting percentage on 38 total attempts in the Bucs' 3-1 win over Daytona State. She also had 18 kills and nine digs in a five-setter vs. Miami Dade. Isabela averaged 0.3 service aces, 2.1 digs and 0.2 blocks this past week.

The last Executive Committee member we would like to introduce is our Legal Counsel/Legislative Liaison, Lacey Hofmeyer, J.D.

Lacey Hofmeyer is a Florida higher education policy expert and experienced attorney.  Lacey currently serves as Florida SouthWestern’s Vice President, Public Policy and General Counsel.  Lacey leads the College’s legal affairs, government affairs, and risk management.  She provides legal support to the College and its direct support organizations in contract negotiations and review, public procurement, employment and union matters, litigation and claims management, real estate, and more. Lacey also works hand-in-hand with the College to develop and execute its legislative priorities at the local, state, and federal level, as well as to provide policy analysis and compliance implementation following each legislative session. 

Beyond her service to higher education, she has nearly 20 years of experience in the legal field, having first been in private practice at the international law firm of Greenberg Traurig, P.A. in Miami. As an Associate then Shareholder, Lacey was a commercial litigator with expertise in finance and real estate disputes, property insurance disputes, products liability matters, and employment litigation. In addition to serving her private clients, Lacey dedicated her time to providing pro bono services to the Miami-Dade County public defender’s special criminal counsel project and to family law clients in Dade Legal Aid’s “Put Something Back” program, among others.

Lacey earned a B.S. in Economics and in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a J.D. at the University of Florida.  Lacey's, husband Erik, and their three children Greta, Aksel, and Teddy enjoy the great outdoors and traveling.

The next Executive Committee member we would like to introduce is our Florida College Systems Representative, Alex Jordan. 

Alexander “Alex” Jordan, Sr. is the Director of Operations, Emergency Management, and Campus Safety for the Florida Department of Education (DOE), Division of Florida Colleges. He has had a 26-year career in administration with the State of Florida. Since arriving in Tallahassee, he has introduced numerous grant projects, cost allocation methodologies, strategic plans, and safety measures as Director of Operations for the Florida College System. Additionally, Alexander’s work has included implementation innovation in areas of athletics, contract management, cybersecurity, facilities management, information technology, student services, and security projects involving the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Mr. Jordan has a Bachelor of Criminal Justice from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, a Master’s in Public Administration from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, and a Master’s in Public Policy from Liberty University Helm School of Government. He is pursuing his Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Administration at Liberty University. 
Mr. Jordan's community involvement includes membership in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. as well as membership in NAACP, Association of Florida Colleges, and Association on Higher Education and Disability. He is a member of Leadership Florida Education Class 7, Florida Council on The Social Status of Black Men and Boys, 500 Role Models of Excellence Project, Tallahassee State College 2022 Alumni and Friend’s Hall of Fame Inductee, and the recipient of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement Administrative Service Award, along with many other awards. 
Mr. Jordan is married to Natalia Jordan, a graduate of Florida State University. Alexander and Natalia live in Tallahassee with their children and enjoy church, cycling, community service, and traveling with their family.

The next Executive Committee member we would like to introduce is our FCSSGA President, Denisha Cadet. 

Denisha Cadet serves as the FCSSGA President for the 2026-2027 school year. 

She is a dedicated leader and is passionate about representing and empowering her peers across every campus, at every college, in the Florida public college system.

She is a student at Palm Beach State College, pursuing an AS degree to complement her AA degree in Health Science.

Being a member of the Dr. Floyd F. Koch Honors College and Phi Theta Kappa has helped her grow academically and personally, and it cemented her belief that success is a product of hard work and determination.

Her leadership journey includes serving as PBSC PGA Campus SGA Senator, PGA SGA Lake Worth President, and FCSSGA's Region 4 Coordinator, as well as heading the PBSC Political Forum. She has also had the privilege of serving twice on PBSC's Outstanding Award-winning National Model United Nations (NMUN) delegation in 2025 and 2026, including as Secretary General and Head Delegate on the 2026 delegation.

As your FCSSGA President, her guiding principle remains her 'You First' initiative, people before self, and team before personalities. She believes that people are lifted when they lift others, and that what is given genuinely is returned in abundance.

She is committed to spotlighting and extending FCSSGA's work to every student in our state, and to building a community rooted in camaraderie, peer support, and mutual respect. She truly believes that achieving the impossible starts with believing it's possible, and she carries that belief with her every step of this journey.

For the third week in a row, our Women's Cross Country Runner of the week is Emma Turner, from Daytona State College! She is just that fabulous. 

A sophomore from Orlando, Florida she was the top FCSAA finisher and placed 24th overall in a field of 100 at the Southern Showcase this past week. She clocked a 5K time of 19:50.2, helping Daytona State to a 13th Place finish in team scoring.
