This concept of “The Old Kanye” is a myth.

It’s a fairytale held by those whose formative years in jr. high through college were shaped by songs like All Falls Down, Touch The Sky, and Can’t Tell Me Nothing.

But after recently watching the 2025 Ye doc ‘In Whose Name’ and the revelations present in the 2022 docuseries ‘Jeen-Yuhs,’ I began to investigate further into the man behind the hits and the masks.

What I’ve determined is that this fiction is a sentiment-driven Mandela Effect we’ve accepted as a Hip-Hop-loving generation.

A Woman’s Work.

For a century, jobs like editing and script supervision were treated like feminine needlework, not authorship.

Universal Brainrot.

We all grew up with some form of low-quality animation and lowbrow humor. However, when it comes to AI’s triggering nature, the visible consensus marks it as this generation’s unprecedented decline.

Contrarily, a silent majority have accepted it as no different than cartoons, or Adult Swim-style antics.

This makes calling it ‘slop’ feel more like organ rejection: a way to avoid admitting that millions of people are participating inside a format we’d rather write off.

As the industry and public argue about whether it counts as real entertainment, a harsher reality exists.

Audiences are moving on. And we can’t just pretend “ethics” will shame them into coming back.
