I’m a tarot geek & I obviously love art, so I had to make this post about artists based in Ibiza (or inspired by Ibiza) who have represented tarot card archetypes.

If you know of any other artists who have explored tarot archetypes, please let me know in the comments or send me a DM, I’d love to discover them!

1. Cover: The Empress by @ruthmulvie, symbolizing “abundance, creativity and feminine energy”, according to the artist, with the owl representing “intuition and inner knowing”. Ruth Mulvie is not based in Ibiza, but she created a series of artworks inspired by tarot cards, featuring iconic Ibiza hotels in the background. This card features Paradiso Ibiza. The series was exhibited in Ibiza earlier this year.

2. The Empress, so beautiful and soft, by @barbara_velli

3. The Hermit by @barbara_velli

4. The Judgement by @barbara_velli

5. The Empress by @ruthmulvie

6. The Lovers by @ruthmulvie, featuring Romeo’s Motel & Diner. I love that it focuses on an important aspect of The Lovers card: the choice. I’ll quote the artist here: “For me, this work is really about choosing yourself and taking the leap into the unknown as part of ‘The Fool’s Journey’ through life. That moment where you surrender to uncertainty and trust what’s on the other side.”

7. The Empress, from the beautiful @tarotvirgi222 deck, created by @virgi222

8. The Hierophant from the @tarotvirgi222 deck

9. The Devil from the @tarotvirgi222 deck

10. The Moon, a mosaic by @venedicta_

Some Ibiza party flyers that are little pieces of art ✨

Here’s a selection playing with celestial imagery: the moon, the stars, astrology... 🌙

Most of the flyers featured here were designed by Yves Uro, a French graphic designer who created some of the most iconic posters for bars and clubs in Ibiza throughout the 1980s and early 90s.

I found most of these gems through @vintage_ibiza_flyers
