East End friends: I hope you’ll join @Baila.With.Val (founder of @TheFitizens) and me in conversation at @FinleysFiction Southampton on October 22nd.

The subject? Life’s unsolicited plot twists. Appropriate bookstore territory.

Val and I both know what it’s like to have a breast cancer diagnosis rewrite the agenda. We’ll bring those experiences to a broader dialogue about change, creativity, and learning to trust yourself when the plan you had is no longer the plan.

I’ll also weave in a few micro-journaling prompts inspired by my book, “The Big Unlock: Liberate Your Creativity Through Mindful Journaling.” Because our pens often get to the point before we do.

Come spend the early evening with us. Bring your curiosity and a pen. “Good handwriting” isn’t required; cursive can stay home.

October feels different for me now.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is no longer just something I see in pink ribbons or hear about once a year.

It’s personal. It’s part of my story.

Movement was a huge part of my life before breast cancer and it became even more meaningful through diagnosis, treatment, recovery and finding my way back to myself.

BAILA has always been about getting out of your head and into your body, but today, for me, it also represents strength, healing, joy and gratitude for what my body can still do.

So this October, I want every class to move with purpose.
50% of my October BAILA with Val class proceeds at @posthousehamptons will be donated to The FITIZENS
Fund 501(c) (3) to support women impacted by breast cancer and help make access to care a little easier.

Because sometimes movement is medicine.
Sometimes community is medicine.
And sometimes simply showing up for one another can make all the difference.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Now that I’m on the other side of treatment and have had time to heal, I’ve been thinking a lot about what comes after survival.

On October 25, we’re gathering for Mind, Body & Soul, an intimate afternoon centered on life during and after breast cancer.

As a two-time cancer survivor, I know that finishing treatment and finding your way back to yourself are two very different things. This afternoon is about making space for that part of the experience: caring for our minds and bodies, reconnecting with ourselves, learning from one another and finding community along the way.

We’ll come together for meditation, nutrition, cannabis education, body confidence, survivorship and connection, with an incredible group of people generously lending their time, expertise and talents to bring the afternoon to life.

Hosted by Leilala & Watson™ × Lighthouse Cannabis and benefiting The FITIZENS Fund, a 501(c)(3).

Over the next few weeks, I can’t wait to introduce you to the incredible people and partners helping us bring Mind, Body & Soul to life.

Kristin and I first connected as moms through a New York group, and I’m so grateful we did.

During some of the hardest parts of my own cancer journey, Kristin’s meditations helped get me through. She has an incredible ability to make movement and mindfulness feel accessible, grounding and human, which is exactly why I wanted her to be part of Mind, Body & Soul.

Kristin has generously donated her time and expertise to lead us in meditation on October 25.

And if you can’t be in the room with us, you can experience her yoga, Pilates, strength and meditation through Kristin McGee Movement.

From the moment we connected with Tim, his wife and the entire Lighthouse team, they have been extraordinary. They welcomed Leilala & Watson with genuine warmth, believed in what we were building and have continued to show up for us in ways tha by @thefitizens

What started so simply … women staying after class, grabbing coffee, making plans and eventually starting a little WhatsApp chat somehow grew into what FITIZENS is today.

And Gina was there at the beginning. She became my first Partner in Purpose, believing in this little community before we even knew what it could become. Our first Paddle Diva gathering 2024 was also my first big fundraiser women coming together to move, connect and give back.

This summer we celebrated our 3rd annual FITIZENS x Paddle Diva, and looking back at how much has happened between that first paddle and now feels pretty surreal.

Somewhere along the way, life changed, my “why” became deeply personal, and giving back became an even bigger part of what we do.

I love how @helenjon captured this story and especially the ripple effect that happens when women genuinely show up for one another. One class leads to a friendship. A friendship leads to an idea. An idea turns into impact.

So grateful for Gina + @paddlediva, @helenjon, and every woman who has been part of this little village along the way.

And this October, @helenjon is donating 20% of their Pink Collection to The FITIZENS Fund, helping us continue supporting women impacted by breast cancer.

A little look back at BURBERRY x FITIZENS 🤍🤎💛

What started with an organic conversation on the beach 🌊 turned into such a special morning with @baila.with.val class @posthousehamptons 🪩 and an afternoon of style, connection + purpose with @burberry at @toppingrosehouse.

We gathered to connect, have some fun + explore Burberry’s new collection, including their athleisure pieces — all while shopping with purpose.

With 10% of every purchase donated to The FITIZENS Fund, together we raised $2,596 — funds that will now go to @latinasistersupinc to support Latina women impacted by breast cancer. 🫶

So grateful to @burberry, @toppingrosehouse and every FITIZEN + friend who came, shopped + made it possible.
